We wrap up this arc and I was REALLY surprised by how much there was to talk about, but then again, it's all about GING and Gon coming to terms with his mission to find his dad and recognizing all Aunt Mito has done for him, while setting up the next arc that I am VERY excited for! Let's chat about this finale to the "Heavens Arc!" It's been so good!

37 is up there with my favorite episodes in the whole series, mostly for the chill slice of life stuff with Gon and Killua. That scene under the stars feels like one of a handful of massive hinge points that the whole series turns on. Speaking of stars and Killua, it was Tanabata (the Star Festival) recently, which is also Killua's birthday! It is a holiday that is traditionally associated with doomed starcrossed lovers, and the Zoldyck theme song in based on part of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet. Just saying there are vibes, y'all. It is interesting that in 37 we both get Gon saying that Mito is his real mom and also switching to calling Ging "Ging" rather than dad/father after he learns more about the guy. It feels like a rare kind of philosophical/introspective decision on Gon's part. Ging is definitely the center of Gon's world in a lot of ways, but I sort of get the feeling if you asked him whether Ging was a good guy, he might say no.

This episode set is SO good! I just ADORE the Gon and Killua scenes! And yes, it definitely feels like a turning point in the series. And that’s adorable that Killua’s birthday is around that Star Festival – and oohhhh, the vibes, huh? Hm. I see the vision so clearly! Yessss, the switching of Gon calling Mito “mom” and his dad, “Ging,” is so great! Very intriguing, indeed! I do agree that it’s a very deliberate choice on his part. And yeah, Ging is who Gon wants to find and confront, but I get the feeling he’s accepted his dad isn’t a “good guy,” but still someone worth finding. I mean, he is friends with an assassin, so should he be surprised? SO much to consider for the next arc! Thank you for the comment!
