Things GO DOWN this week, as we get much-needed character work with my new favorite, Euini! His entire character makes me so happy! But the happiness may be short lived; while our trio of test takers make their way through their second exam, some "Brimmed" danger is brewing and of course...it leads to quite the penultimate cliffhanger!

Enui is the cutest bean there is, and I'm so pissed at Kukrow for making him so insecure instead of actually trying to help him gain more confidence, or to find ways for him to work around his limitations. Yet again, as we've established, Kukrow is as ableist as the rest of the witches, so he was predisposed to not care about Enui needing to do things differently for them to work for him. Richeh and Enui is a ship that came out of nowhere for me but I am SO here for it. She would be his biggest cheerleader. Something I appreciated with Aggot was how she wasn't mean about any of the things she was saying and actually cheer Enui as well. She has a huge chip on her shoulder thanks to her upbringing, and we have seen her lash out at Coco, but it's nice to see that she is really kind at her core as well, even if she is harsher than others. Yep, I really liked how this test is pretty complete and so hands on. They have to cast spells without letting anyone see, but they also have to have a decent amount of knowledge from where to pool to be able to figure out how to advance. And I also appreciated that Alaira kept them company to make sure that test was as safe as possible for them. The conversation of how there really aren't only one right answer is fascinating. I mean, it's so true to life. There never is only on right way of doing things, and it depends so much on who you are to see what you'll do and how you'll accomplish it. There's no sense in comparing oneself to another, because we all have our own way of doing things. And Enui needed to learn that, to see his own value and his own creativity, and that was lovely, that he understood that it didn't only apply to the test but to the rest of his magic as well. Another thing is that Enui didn't gain a 100% confidence from that encounter alone; which I was, admittedly, worried would happened. He learned something new, and that helped, but he still has room to grow, The story of Romonov was horrifying, to be honest. It's a chilling reminder of the hubris of people. It also brough to my mind the story of El Dorado, the city of gold that was lost, and that was a fun little thing to remember.

Euini is the sweetest bean and I love him so already – how dare Kukrow feed his insecurities!! Ugh, that guy is the worst! I do love the ship of Richeh and Euini SO MUCH! OTP material for me! And yesss, I really like how Agott connected with Euini and not make things worse with him – she’s growing as a character and showing that she’s a nice kid beneath it all. And yes, the test being hands on is really good – and it requires a decent breadth of knowledge to accomplish their goals correctly. I’m also glad Alaira is there to help out as well!! And that idea of there being multiple ways to do something – it ties to magic and with Tartah finding the herb to help Coco and so many other little moments in the season and now with Euini and Richeh in this! 😀 And yes, the Romonon story is so scary…yeah, the El Dorado legend, too! That’s such a good connection! Thank you for the comment!!
