Oh boy, the scream i let out every fucking time with the end of this episode. You could touch the tension there. It makes me wonder the dynamic of Emiri parents with her at home when she says things they talk about her and i hope she can discover more stuff about herself.

Since the very first episode I understood that Journal With Witch is an incredibly special anime. It spoke to me on a deep level and with each episode it got better and better. This episode though. THIS EPISODE not only lives rent free in my head, but also has taken my mind hostage (not complaining). Romania, with all due respect - you can't have Kasamachi - he and Makio are meant for each other. That's my OTP. I'm gonna sail or sink with this ship - all aboard ⚓ Instead can we all work on some cloning device so that each of us could have a clone of Kasamachi? That way everyone's happy and my OTP survives.

Loved the reaction and discussion! Yet another masterfully crafted episode! 🥰 Various things I loved: “I would like Kasamachi’s bento box!” 🤣 The little moment of Emiri getting to choose which tea she gets and having Makio’s hospitality presented like a little idyllic tea shop 🥹 Seeing younger Kasamachi and Makio! Babies! Makio’s accidental text and how it was INSTANTLY read 🤣 The whole scene in the restaurant and the way other people “visited” in their minds Cardboard box!Tono, oh nooo. 😅 Tono is so interesting to me because I find it exceedingly difficult to imagine what his experience must be like. Makio thinks of it more in terms of escapism (very diplomatic, yes!). But he doesn’t just say he’s ‘not a book person’ or something, and specifically notes there that he doesn’t engage with any fiction or narratives at all. There’s research which shows that people with aphantasia often are less emotionally engaged with/interested in narratives but they still consume fiction at average rates. So I think something like that would not be enough to explain Tono’s statement, so I wonder if Tono represents a kind of alexithymia: where a person can have a tendency to orient their thinking externally in ways that mean their own emotions are largely out of reach and therefore having a narrative simulation of the “experience” of emotions also doesn’t work. Narrative absorption is such a fascinating area! Tono has made me want to read more about it. 🥰 But it’s also kind of obvious why I’d have a difficult time understanding him there, I am literally writing a long comment under a reaction channel known for its exquisite emotional examinations. 🤣 (Very pleased with myself for that alliteration there! 🤣) I commend your valiant efforts to keep talking (and give us an amazing discussion 🫶) about the rest of the episode after that final scene… Your reaction was everything I thought it would be! 🥰 Also, I absolutely and completely commend all the talent involved in the making of this, from the very specific animation choices to, of course, Sawashiro and Suwabe, etcetc. All their efforts combined have successfully made me care about a het-ship for the first time in probably over a decade if not more. 😆 Seriously stunning work! And they knew exactly what they were doing when they cast those two VAs! Applause all around. 🥳 Looking forward to the next episode! 💙

THE TENSION WAS PALPABLE!!! I am so bamboozled in the best way! Also, I really want good things for Emiri -- I hope that she can do some soul-searching as well, if not now (because High school can be a rough time for that) then at least afterwards as she grows into an adult. I think Makio and her crew of friends are great examples of that happening in real time in the series. Thank you for the comment!

This episode is probably one of my favorite romantic ANYTHING that I've ever seen -- and okay, look, Makio and Kasamichi are officially an OTP for me and I hope they stay together through this series with what's to come (we shall see and my fingers are crossed -- you never know what can happen in anime), but okay, let's just clone Kasamichi and transport him to the real world, because we all deserve someone like him! Thank you for the comment and kind words – Kasamichi is my TOP husbando this year! SWOONWORTHY! I loved Emiri being accepted and getting to “choose” and explore around Makio - that might have won her over with Makio in this! And yessss, young Makio and Kasamichi - they seem SO young! Also, OH YEAH, he IMMEDIATELY read that text - he is down BAD. The restaurant scene had me clutching my pearls! Okay, maybe I was too harsh on Tono! 😛 That’s a really good note about Tono and breaking down his character. Oh my gosh, that final scene – one of my favorite in anime this year! SERIOUSLY. Everything about it is perfection, so I’m glad you enjoyed my reaction! Also, YES, these two VA’s were SO good! So much applause!! I don’t know how any episode could top this one, but I guess we shall see! Your description definitely has me interested in learning more on that, too! Hahaha, THE E ALLITERATION! I love it!
