That may be the case to start 2027, to be honest, because this series has left me wanting so much more, despite how satisfying the journey has been! What a series and what a ride it's been! This was my favorite anime of last year . I was surprised becasue if sommeone asks me to describe what happens in it my answer would be sommething along the lines of 'Two people talk in a small apartment'.. and yet.. It was so enthralling it became my nr 1. So happy you reacted to this.

Loved the reaction and discussion! What a journey! I can’t believe we’re at the end. 😭 Various moments I loved: Another gentle pass over the other characters and how they are like a prism around Asa, I love the way the series approached that! 🥰 Asa and Chiyo’s conversation Yuto being the sweetest bean with his tiny manga volume. 🥹 That conversation with Makio scrambling a little to preserve her “reputation” as a cold badass who ‘don’t care ‘bout nobody’ – so hilarious to me. 😂 Anyone, ANYONE going “well WHY don’t you like me? Explain!” – yikes on bikes, profoundly do not ask questions you cannot handle the answer to. That montage of Asa with her parents (and hearing their bullshit, tbh) cutting to her then walking alone… My heart! 😭 Getting that reference back to Mad Max! Asa being the doggo and Emiri the “doggy friend”… Makiooooo! 🤣 Getting the confirmation that after school Asa and Emiri are still close! 🥰 Chiyo’s situation continues to be heartbreaking for me and I really love that she got to shine in this episode! 🥰 Loved the way they connected and both acknowledged the difficulty and the difference in their circumstances. I also think this may be one of the best examples in terms of showing Asa growing to be a better person. Real-life rant incoming: Even in the UK, kids have to do serious prep in school for years just to meet the prerequisites and have a chance at one of the limited number of university places for medical degrees. We already have significant staffing shortages in the NHS, while also having constraints on the clinical placements and supervised postgraduate training needed. And I wouldn't even call the UK education system that intense compared to some other countries. So knowing how absolutely insane the pressure and competitiveness of pursuing medical education can be in places like Japan, and imagining how much of their childhood and adolescence some of these kids must have sacrificed or organised around getting even a chance at a place? And then thinking about the people who discovered (probably years later) that the system hadn't even been giving them a fair chance in the first place? That they could have worked towards this for years, done everything they were supposed to do, and still been rejected because someone simply decided their future for them?! I keep wondering how many people had their lives and careers diverted onto entirely different paths without ever knowing the real reason why. And how many opportunities they lost that no apology or subsequent reform could ever give back. Ugh. I could rant about this for ages, I need to stop. /endrant Most of all in this episode, I love the fact that between all of Asa’s doubts and fears and uncertainties this season – being “plain,” not having anything to say, being lonely, not knowing how to make a decision herself in the first place, etcetc. That ultimately, she chose for the song’s purpose to be about reaching someone else, first, rather than solely focusing on proving anything about herself! 🥹 Again, I am just so proud of her! 🥰 Thank you so much for this series of reactions and discussions, they have been such a joy. And I truly appreciate the sensitivity and openness you’ve given, for yourself and also for all of these wonderful characters. 🫶 This series is truly special. And again, I will be here 100% for any manga reading at any point. 🥰 Looking forward to returning from hiatus! Onwards and upwards! 💙🌵
