Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to give a brief (for me) note about comments and spoilers for Patreon and YouTube; I'm watching a lot of AMAZING series that I get so excited to go into blind with because of all the surprises, twists and turns, etc.

First of all, I don't want ANYONE to feel like they shouldn't comment on a video., because I love interacting with everyone...and I'm NOT a complaining person, so I feel awful posting this, but I feel I needed to be transparent with y'all! ^^

For the most part, everyone's comments are NOT spoilery but I wanted to let you know what I mean by "spoiler":

* Plot spoilers of things to come * Things I've missed in the Discussions/Episode (I might catch onto them in future episodes, which would be a fun surprise!) * Hints or Clues ("Make sure to pay attention to--" or "Your question about __  will be answered")

* Theories confirmed or de-confirmed (then I can't speculate like a madwoman for your amusement)

I know those don't seem like spoilers to a lot of people, but they do dampen my experience watching because they can give me false expectations, take away a surprise that would have been a cool reaction later on, or get my hyped for something that then is a let down.

I don't have moderators, or want anyone to volunteer their time for me (y'all have lives,  hahaha), but if you DO want to talk amongst yourselves about spoilers in the comment, please Spoiler Tag so I know not to read it. That helps out SO MUCH!

I'm so lucky to have you all as supporters on Patreon and YouTube, and I feel I'm being very selfish posting this, but the big reason I started this channel was to interact via comments with everyone. I know 99% of reactors don't do this (probably for the reasons above), but I don't want to become one of them. I hope I can continue reading comments without worrying about it ruining my viewing experience.

I hope that this makes sense and hope I don't seem like a spoiler-gate tyrant, haha!

You all are amazing, and I appreciate every ounce of support. I don't deserve it.

I'm also a big stickler about spoilers, to the point where I won't even let someone tell me the genre of a show before I watch it, so I totally feel you! No need to apologize!

Kelsey

Very understandable and doable requests 😊

romaniablack

I'm glad you all are understanding and kind! :)

romaniablack

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's a stickler about spoilers; I felt so nervous posting this, since you all are kind enough to support me through Patreon. Thank you for the kind words!

Anyone else get the feeling of getting called into the principals office and wondering if you done something wrong? 😉 What is considered a spoiler can be highly individual and subjective, but i'm sure anyone here feels that spoiling is the last thing they would want to do. I know i've gone back and removed parts comments, before posting them, when i've felt they perhaps strayed to close.

romaniablack

Haha, I definitely have been worried I'd come off like a teacher/nagging, so I hope I don't come off like that! >.< I am sure no one means to (although on YT there's been some that seem to be that way) on here; I just wanted to put out there my thoughts on spoilers since it is so subjective! That way no one has to worry what I'm going to consider "spoilery" when they comment! 99% of everyone's stuff has been spoiler-free -- just wanting to hopefully keep out that "bad apple." :P

zeroantizero

No need to be nervous. It's good to know what crosses the line and what doesn't. We love your comments too much to want you to stop because of spoilers!

romaniablack

Thanks! Technology is weird in how it translates "tone," and I didn't want anyone to think I was mad or discouraging comments; thank you all for being so kind and understanding!

I'm always paranoid of this myself, but even I have posted things on occasion which I later think might be somewhat hinting in a direction. The rule I try to use is that if I'm going to post something about an episode it can't be anything I wasn't already thinking when I saw the episode the very first time. I especially try to never only post about things I was right about as well, and post theories I had which turned out wrong without specifying whether I was right about them. My favorite part of many anime is the theorizing about the mysteries at the center of the series and I would absolutely hate to rob someone of that.

romaniablack

That's a really nice rule of thumb, there! I hadn't thought of it that way, before. I love theorizing and actually like when I'm proven wrong and the twist isn't what I expected! :)

Christopher Pettersson

No no, i was joking. 😆 but yes, there are certainly people out there that get a kick out of spoiling things. I don't remember what creator it was but someone shared a story where a member of their community, that had been active for quite some time, always seemed nice and supportive one day just sent a picture and it was just the most spoilery image one could imagine. Some people are just... different.

romaniablack

Oh my gosh, REALLY?! Wow!! That's insane! Hahaha! I remember answering a comment on the actual YouTube video (I usually answer in the YT inbox) and saw a "recommended video" with an AOT character on it and quickly turned away and exited the tab, hahaha!

Romania, you're the best reactor I've ever encountered and you deserve everything and even more! No need to apologize! I'm sure most of us don't mean to spoil you in the comments, but sometimes people might unintentionally give away things, so it is always helpful to explain the standards :) Happy watching and reading ^^

romaniablack

Thank you SO much; you all are ridiculously kind; I really appreciate the kind words and all the support! And hardly anyone has spoiled, which I've been really fortunate with! :) I agree, hopefully having this post will help if people are unsure! Thank you so much and ditto; happy watching and reading, too! :D

iHatePiano

Understood. I will try to be very careful when commenting. For example, would this be a spoiler? "You should commit (something, e.g. a line from some character) to memory. If you don't know what it means now, you will later."

Kelsey

I'd say that can be a bit spoilery because it implies more is happening with that then you mightve initially thought. If they'll eventually know it later I'd say just leave it.

romaniablack

Thank you so much for understanding; yes, I would consider that a spoiler, because it's telling me that it's going to come up later, which is spoiler-ish to me because it creates an expectation that can connect to other things and then I figure out what's going to happen before it does. That actually happened recently with a show I was watching -- someone said, "pay attention to ____" and it ended up revealing a moment a few episodes later and the surprise was ruined, if that makes sense!

killerqueen2000

Noted, and you're too smart to not guess right many of these spoilers, even without revealing much ;)

romaniablack

Y'all are too kind! Thank you for being so patient with me, hahaha! :)

Tameaw

Please don't feel bad. It's better to clearly convey your thought and boundary on what are counted as spoilers. Not only the reaction communities but every contents-relating communities such as social games, I think having some kind of guidelines make things more peaceful rather than leave members judging cluelessly. Appreciate your courage to bring this up. I recalled that I mentioned something like 'I like a character that have not come out yet'. My apologies for that spoiler. I also would like to take this chance to say that I love your kind&humble attitude and active communication on comments.

romaniablack

Thank you for the kind words and I'm grateful as well! And no worries; if you said something about characters yet to come, you weren't the only one -- I figured it wouldn't hurt to be transparent, and I'm thankful for everyone's understanding and support on here! I was nervous because technology can sometimes make the "tone" of what you write interpreted in ways that aren't what you meant, so I'm glad y'all are okay with it and it's helpful! :)

Matthew Palfenier

I've been incredibly impressed by how respectful your audience has been with a lot of these really popular hot-topic shows you've been reacting to recently. I know I've been trying really hard to keep things spoiler free but well done to the overall community. It's pretty rare to have such a devoted group of individuals carefully navigating the conversations while trying to protect the first time experience you're having with the media. I hope that your audience continues to respect the journey as your channel grows even bigger. It's been so fun to be a part of this community during this time!

romaniablack

I'm honestly SO LUCKY to have y'all be so kind to me about spoilers! I always feel like I'm nagging when I ask not to be spoiled, and I know you all are chomping at the bit to tell me things, so I'm really appreciative of how respectful everyone is on here -- I'm grateful to have an awesome group of people to talk about with these shows, for sure! :)
