Summer Emblem (Patreon)

Bluesky/Pixiv (Part 1)/Pixiv (Part 2)It's time for some fun in the sun! ...Well, at least for the girls who haven't fallen prey to a transformation.===============================================================Growing as an Artist (New Concepts/Discoveries and Thoughts):- This was my monthly theme submission for a Discord group. The theme this time was, "Fading Summer," with the simple rule of making a post summer related.- Sculpt mode is certainly a powerful tool at my disposal. Shoutout to DistortingReality for telling me about it after I asked about one of his earlier pieces that he made using it. I had always known how to do balling and cubing, but not melting, which used it.• The surfboard transformation was actually partially created using the method that melted Cordelia and Olivia. I practically shaped Lianna into a surfboard myself. Combining techniques can very often lead to intriguing results!- I thought about upgrading my stills to 4K res for a good while and now here they are! Although it certainly takes longer to render, I don't mind it for the sake of higher quality. The black borders are also an equal 25 x 25 now, unlike before where they were 15 x 10.===============================================================Trivia and Extra Tidbits:- This project was absolutely massive. Several hours in the making. Want a vision of scale and fun facts? Continue reading...• Without a doubt, the most characters I've used in a piece with a grand total of 11 characters, all of their colors touched up from the ground up. Not to mention all the posing involved!• While tied for the most amount of characters transformed in a piece with The Guardian, this features the largest variety of transformations ever to be put into one piece for my gallery, with four unique ones being put in!• This scene is actually the culmination of the assets of not just one, but two separate imported beaches put together, as well as other imported textures and handmade meshes.• There's bump maps for almost every single material.- I didn't just randomly pick characters for this. There are several references and points here that you may have missed or not thought about...• Both Cordelia and Olivia comment on the heat in the Awakening DLC, Summer Scramble. Lissa eagerly talks about wanting to go swimming in the water in it as well.• Elise is known to always play games with others, Sakura being her natural Hoshidan counterpart. Since they're playing volleyball against each other, it's Hoshido vs. Nohr, like the war in Fates. It is further kept neutral when you factor in that Azura does not belong to a particular kingdom when you play through Fates (She was in Nohr, then kidnapped by Hoshido, whereas Corrin is the opposite). Not to mention, Azura's original name is Aqua, because she uses the power of water. I very nearly put in Camilla as the ball though, since I haven't done anything with her before.• I put Tiki in because she's young and as such, a bit childish. Somehow, I picture her running around happily in the sand and her swimming about with a big floaty. I also highly considered putting Caeda in instead of Linde, considering the ties to Marth, but Linde served just as well.• Where do Lianna, Anna, and Celica all fit in here? That's the thing, they don't, but do at the same time.  Lianna only appears in Warriors as a protagonist, while Celica is the only Gaiden representative in Warriors. Meanwhile, Anna doesn't belong to any particular Fire Emblem game.• Finally, all characters are grouped based off of their respective games, if they have one.- The renders' perspectives were angled specifically so that you can only see the previous panel's scene in the background! It's like a big connected story.- I adjusted several props' colors to match the scheme of characters nearby them.===============================================================Extra Notes:- Large topics that lead to several points, although uncommon unless a piece is massive, will be grouped together and divided appropriately.===============================================================Credits:- Characters:• Cordelia, Lissa, and Olivia (Fire Emblem Awakening).• Azura, Elise, and Sakura (Fire Emblem Fates).• Celica (Fire Emblem Gaiden).• Lianna (Fire Emblem Warriors).• Anna (Fire Emblem series).
