Like any other proper establishment, Monster Hotel requires a security guard who ensures the safety of guests and staff alike. One can never be too careful, especially around creatures from all corners of the Universe.

During your first months at the Hotel, you didn't really cross paths with the mysterious guardian of the premises. He mainly worked night shifts or kept his distance from regular guests unless there was an emergency. On your way home, however, you could spot a tall, slender figure swaying in the darkness; the image always filled you with dread, and you wondered what kind of all-powerful Beast had been trusted to deal with any danger by itself.

The Warden, you quickly learned, is not as frightful as you originally assumed. In fact, you now find his behavior comically unfit for someone of his build. He eagerly awaits your visits, as you are the only person he talks to outside of himself.

  • You discovered he enjoys dancing, though he's a tad clumsy and has nearly stepped on you more than once.

  • He likes making balloon animals - where did he even learn such a skill? - and will frequently gift you his latest creation.

  • Aha! As it turns out, he used to be an entertainer for a monstrous carnival. Lamentably, he told you, their touring planet was devoured by a black hole. "Couldn't you start over somewhere else," you asked. He explained, quite passionately, that their performing masks were sucked into the void, save for one. They couldn't decide which one should wear the remaining prized possession. There were fights, there were threats. Eventually, he took it for himself and ran away. He proudly tapped on his carved sun mask to show you his victorious affair.

  • His chest opens to a horrendous, gaping mouth filled with rows of teeth. The depths of this cursed cavity lead to unknown places. If someone misbehaves, they are quite literally chomped into another dimension. They're not discarded, mind you; just put in timeout until they learn their lesson.

  • He is often late to work because he struggles to button his shirt all the way down.
