For this week’s first Friday Poll, I’d like to talk about an important upcoming change planned for update 0.5.0.

In this update, new magic classes will be introduced. These will be tied directly to Micah’s current base class. For example, a Construction Worker would evolve into a Runic Builder. This class change would alter Micah’s stats, open access to five new class specific spells, and allow the player to learn spells from other magic classes at an additional cost.

Because this is a major gameplay and narrative change, I’d like to know how you feel it should be handled in the story.

If the class change is mandatory, it would allow for deeper integration into the narrative, with more dialogue references, story reactions, and world building tied to Micah becoming a magic user.

If the class change is optional, it would remain mostly a combat feature, with limited narrative impact and possibly a few small, exclusive side missions that would remain locked if the player chooses not to become a magic user.

Poll Question:Should the transition to a magic class be mandatory as part of the story, or a player decision?

Thank you and have an amazing weekend! 💜

making the magic mandatory would enable more difficult story encounters that don't require having to take into account people who elect to stay weaker/less versatile

I feel it should be optional, well, you could make it so it's also a difficulty choice, like you're supposed to get the magic class change, but you can choose not to, but you'll have to grind more because the fights will be a lot harder because you're supposed to have the magic class.

I would say Magic should be mandatory, but not to the exclusion of melee ability (dependent on class)
