Many NSFW scenes have used a third-person narrator. However, some people have told me they strongly prefer scenes to stay 100% in Micah / Mikaria’s POV instead.

So the question is:

Should we keep using the narrator in NSFW scenes?

We could keep the narrator as it is now, use it only for environmental or atmospheric description or remove it completely and keep everything from the protagonist’s perspective.

This can greatly affect how immersive scenes feel, so I’d really like to know your preference.

Poll Question:How should the narrator be handled in NSFW scenes?

Thank you so much for your time, have an amazing weekend and Friday! 💜

This is hard to say as a blanket, it really depends on the TF

Void Butterfly

I think your current mix of third-person narration with in character dialogue and POV works well, and it already mostly leans towards the POV style writing especially when it comes to the NSFW scenes where the narration is mostly only used for emphasis, detailing changes like parts of the body transforming etc strengthening the scenes where it is used. Overall being used in a beneficial non intrusive way, so I'm not really sure why some people want the narrator removed for these kinds of scenes in fact if anything I would say it would actually benefit some scenes depending on the situation to have even more narration in particular when it comes to detailing the body transforming. And I feel like you could just have a similar effect of giving more of Micah/Mikaria's POV if you just show more of their inner thoughts in various situations similar to dialogue, it doesn't need to replace the narrator. A Narrator in my opinion helps with going more explicit with detail, especially when you’re limited in how many images and text you can use for the scenes (like how you sometimes use narration in a transformation to tell what is changing about their body then following it up with the character affected speaking and reacting). Trying to fit all of that into first person and having a similar effect could potentially end up feeling a bit unnatural like they are just listing off what is changing or realising/noticing something they shouldn't etc. While you have quite a few scenes where a transformation happens and their is no narrator for it just character dialogue matched with images and while I like them (it helps that usually for most of these their is someone else present who essentially comments and helps narrates the changes instead). I think generally some of the best scenes you have written so far are the ones that fully detail how the body transforms using the narrator and using it to help portray mental changes that are less immediately apparent, the Gwen goblin transformation near the start is still in my opinion some of your best writing for a transformation and a good example of narration used well. It also gives you flexibility to make scenes for when the character can’t speak or isn’t fully aware, for example currently in the game their are certain endings which wouldn't really work in pure first person or wouldn't hit nearly as well without the narrator e.g. the ghost, Yuki-ona and blaze ending/TF scenes, there are probably more but these are the first ones that come to mind and would be a shame limiting yourself from not adding more like these with a similar tone. This is all before actually taking into account the limitations for writing scenes or actions for other characters that don't necessarily involve Micah/Mikaria as while a first person perspective can be good for one off transformations (though it could quickly become repetitive as you can be kind of limited in the way you word things to make it sound more like actual natural thoughts), it is kind of not great when having lots of other characters changing. Also the possibility of needing to rewrite previous scenes to make things consistent. Sorry if I went on a little tangent and this came out a bit long but I really needed to bring this up as I would hate to see the writing which I consider one of the main highlights of the game for me and reason I am even here potentially becoming worse due to a change like this. That all being said, the most important thing is writing in the style you’re most comfortable and confident with, since that’ll have the biggest impact on the overall quality, presentation and also help not leave you stuck wondering what to write or how to word something.
