In celebration of the God-Cursed 2-year anniversary and Chapter 7 release, seven winners have been selected and either direct messaged here through Patreon or emailed (a few winners I could not direct message). If any of the winners have questions or trouble, please feel free to reach out.
I'll be doing more drawings for free tier members and posting more sneak peeks with general updates in the future.
Speaking of, here's a sneaky-peeky from Chapter 7!
Sleep is hard-won.
The days of traveling had a way of distracting you. The routine of riding, taking breaks, and caring for the mounts was all comforting. It felt, in a way, like it wouldn't end, that it would be a new way of living. Coming upon a village of witches was also distracting in its own way, even a little exciting.
So many things blocked what you were about to do from your line of sight. But now it's here. After hours of fitful slumber, you're watching as the rays of the sun come up to chase away the dark, slowly illuminating your tent. You don't want to get up, but you also know that this may be your only chance to beat your curse.
You either face death and live or you let death take you without a fight.
As you prepare for the hard day ahead, it's clear that everyone feels it too. It's quiet. Even Zahn has nothing to chatter about, and Duri has yet to crack a single joke. What is more unnerving is how well Aster and Oswin are getting along. Weapons are checked, arrows and bolts are sorted and counted for, and Rune prepares his/her staff as you saw before – a scythe-like purple blade appearing on one end. You have a satchel of medical supplies, food, and full waterskins. The hope is to be in and out before the sun sets again, ideally in no more than a few hours.
Though she cannot help you, Sonnet walks with you to the boundary. The closer you get, the more you feel the oppressive atmosphere. It's peculiar how visible it is, like a moving wall of dust – cloudy and grey. It acts like a fog that obscures what rests behind it.
"Nothing lives beyond this point," the matron says. "It is called Desolation for a reason. It was once a vibrant forest, and one day, it will be again. If you succeed, know that you have helped us hasten our mission. You will be like patrons for my people. Even if you do not retrieve what you need, I wish only that you make it back alive. If you are wounded, you will find care with us."
"Thank you," you say.
The others join you in speaking gratitude to the witch.
She smiles and stares into your eyes. "You're a bright soul. You need not thank me for doing what is right. I will be your sentinel for when you return. The boundary can be crossed anywhere if you are unable to return the way you enter; I will find you."
You take a breath. Sonnet steps back and watches you. Each one of your companions exchanges a glance with you. Duri shifts into his/her full wolf form and stretches. Weapons are drawn.
This is it.
