My latest coin design: $200 Gold Canadian Dollar! 👑 (Patreon)

As some of you know, my “day job” includes designing Canadian money 😊 I am super excited to share the latest coin design I created for The Royal Canadian Mint : $200 Gold Canadian Dollar! 👑 The Royal Canadian Crown is making its first appearance on the reverse, alongside St.Edwards Crown worn by His Majesty King Charles III as he was coronated last year.

This will be available on the Royal Canadian Mint website and numismatic collections worldwide. I think it retails for $5,000 so I can’t even afford one 😕 but just wanted to give you a glimpse of some of the other work I do when I am not watercoloring. These projects typically take months and I create multiple layouts, with only one making it to the final engraving - lots of sketching and valuable practice when it comes to composition building. I try to carry all my learnings over to my watercolor compositions and share them with you here 😊

I do a lot of coins with flowers too but also specialize in monarchy series as it involves decorative organic motifs I've always specialized in. There is another one coming up with a colorful flower soon! :)

You can, but these are meant as gift / collectable items, usually small mintage. I also do more widely circulated coins, but these limited editions are always fun to make!
