For everyone who’s been asking for a watercolor toucan (and more intricate scenes in general) - I’ve put together a new composition featuring some tropical flowers and lots of negative painting of course 💚 This will be a fully narrated tutorial for August 😊 I am hoping to finish the 2nd layer tomorrow and start editing the videos for you next week. So cute! What do you think difficulty rating might be?

Thank you!:) It's my typical 3-layer application: background wet-on-wet, then texture wet-on-dry + some glazing for shadows in the end. I would say intermediate, very similar to my regular bird/flower compositions but with emphasis on negative painting specifically. No wet-on-damp, no fancy granulation. Flowers are trickier than the bird, but I'll do a separate outline for those who just want to do a toucan on its own without all the extra detail.

I am going to give it a try. Thank you Anna.

As soon as I saw this I wished it to be a Patreon tutorial.. toucans are immensely beautiful.. and they would look amazing with birds of paradise flowers

Won’t follow along like usual, but really looking forward to it as painting ”black” objects or animals is so tough
