Hi All! I recently posted a full video with an overview of my favorite art accessories / painting supplies I use on a regular basis {link: https://youtu.be/jmRWKeE-Jv4 } . A few patrons recommended that I cross post it here since not everyone is getting YouTube notifications, but there are some that may be interested in this concise summary. These are rather optional but quite helpful, and include mediums, retractable erasers and some other things I may have mentioned only in passing. The full list is below, and I will include it in the main Index post of all available tutorials. Thank you for the recommendation! Enjoy:)

Thanks for recommending the ox gall! It’s really helped with wet on wet for large surfaces, as well as blending edges and lifting out

Hi Anna, it would be great if you also put the link of the video here with your explanations. Thanks!

Hi Anna, I love your work. Do you label the colours on the pallets? If not, how do you know what they are?

Debi Statler

Hi Anna!! I love your tutorials. I would love to see a video tutorial on your favorite supplies. Only pictures on this page. Could you please add the link. Thank you for all your work!

Hello Anna In your video you mention Synthetic OxGall from Qor, but your amazon-link links to Watercolor Medium from Qor. Do they both work the same way and do you use them both for the same purpose? I can't find the Watercolor Medium in Denmark but there are a few different choices for oxgall, though none syntetic. I am confused as to what to search after and buy.

I'm sure you've been asked this before, but do you have a paint set from QoR? I find I usually buy these first then add colors as needed. It seems I'm always missing one. I just bought all of the QoR colors you have in this list. I ended up buying two sets then added extra colors. That did leave me with some duplicates.

Debbie

I noticed that too.

Hi Debbie and Teresa, First, my apologies for not catching the original message. The comments tend to get lost in the long list of updates at times; the best way to get in touch with me if you have a question is via DM feature here on Patreon. These go directly to my email and I answer them weekly. Regarding the QOR medium, I double checked and it seems like they have updated the Amazon description since I first obtained the link. To be sure, the bottle I have is called Syhthetic Ox Gall. Here is the right product on Jacksons art: https://www.jacksonsart.com/en-ca/golden-qor-watercolour-medium-synthetic-ox-gall-59ml I have updated the description accordingly. Thank you for bringing it to my attention! Have a wonderful holiday season. Anna

How do you use the Ox Gall? I saw that you recommended using it during hot tempatures. But I was wondering if I added it to my clean water would it help blend the paint easier into the background. Especially wet on dry paper.

Anna Bucciarelli

Of course - I tend to only use it when it gets hot and dry here, but regardless of your climate, a few drops in your water jar will extend the drying time and improve flow. The key is to not over do it! I've had a few accidents so I always have to mention that less is more when it come to this medium:) Just 2-3 drops in a 250-350ml jar is more than enough. Enjoy!

I was trying to find the Escoda Chronos rounds, and I cannot find all of the sizes you use. I’m looking at the bird with the lemons, and I believe you said 3, 4 and 6, but I can’t find a 3 anywhere. I have a number of DaVinci Maestro brushes that are Kolinsky sable. I like them, but I thought the combo of synthetic and hair might be easier to work with. I’m not crazy for my all-synthetic brushes.

I put a little artists tape on the edge of the palette so I can label each color and because it’s artists tape I can remove anytime if I need to change the colors out. This is helpful if I’m taking a few days off from a project so when I go back I can remember what colors are in the palette.

Linda Watkins

They don't make a size 3 Escoda Chronos round brushes. Weird but true. I bought a round & a rectangle erasers & they have so far solved all issues where I needed an eraser.

You are amazing artist

Anna, I just joined on Patreon . I don't know how to find the image in the tutorial to trace. Can you please let me know how to do that? And can you explain the difference between the skillshare site and the Patreon site as I see you are on both. Lastly, what brushes do you recommend ? Thanks.

Anna Bucciarelli

Hi Mary! Welcome, and thank you so much for joining — I'm delighted to have you here! 🎨 Great questions, let me walk you through everything! 1. Every tutorial comes with supporting materials included right in the attachment — this includes the black and white outlines you can use for tracing. You'll always find all the materials saved in Chapter #1, so that's the first place to look whenever you start a new class. Most of my tutorials run around 3–4 hours and are organized into chapters to make it easy to follow along at your own pace. 2. As for Skillshare vs. Patreon — I have over a dozen classes on the Skillshare platform, where I used to be a Top Teacher. Over time I transitioned full time here to Patreon, which is now my main home! The classes I originally created for Skillshare can still be accessed there if you have a Skillshare subscription, but they're also available here on Patreon if you're a member of Tier 3. 🌟 3. As far as the brushes, I would recommend a collection of round pointed sable brushes (real or synthetic) ranging from size zero to size 8. My most frequently used sizes are #2 and #4. I would also get a 1/2 flat brush. I hope that clears things up and makes everything easier to navigate. Happy painting! 🖌️ P.S. Please note: the best way to reach me is via Patreon's direct message feature. Comments can sometimes get lost in the shuffle of updates, but I make a point to review DMs and answer every Friday. Don't hesitate to reach out!
