I believe apologies are moot at this point. For various irl reasons, I have slipped, and need to do something to regain my previous punctuality.Anyway, enjoy the chapter. It's probably one of my greatest to date. Just writing it made me feel better.

The story on the Targaryen site is good, the plot is moving! I don’t get the whole Melisandre point but ok On the other hand I find this Jon to emotional and not the good way ! I understand he has his feelings but I find it weird how easy is for this Jon to cry or forfeit his life! Plus I believe the plot for Jon not moving at all , extremely slow pace !

I'd really appreciate if you left a google doc link the way fableweaver does. I do not like this website template.

Honestly I loved this chapter, both parts of it. Does anyone know if Melisandre was the one that was originally responsible for SummerHall? I for one find Jon's attitude completely believable. His entire life has been one of pain, fighting, loss, and all for people that didn't know or care; and others that were glad for it. The only thing that was moving forward was his own conscious and the purpose of fighting an enemy that was an existential threat to life. Now all of that is over, and he has no purpose. Jon is 17 here? Unless magic affects development a lot differently in Planatos, he has like another 10 years before his brain is even full developed. I know I didn't feel like I could think like an adult until I was like 30. I doubt he has ever dared to dream of happiness, Catelyn Stark saw to that. And I also love that BloodRaven sees this and is like 'ya fuck that, fuck it all. Im not going to just kill this kid.'

Thank you. I am glad that Aegon isn't cheating on Betha. The way Aegon sees things is exciting, for while he still acts like the young squire, we see glimpses of the King he could have been if he had killed the boy. Jon's section was very well done. I can't wait until Jon’s training is finished. I feel like he will be quite the warrior of the era. Great job as always, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

The new setup is different and annoying to read.., just saying

I've always wanted to see a fic actually use skinchanging strategically in battle. In canon, Arya uses the cats eyes to see when she's blind, and I've always thought it was such a missed opportunity in fics (surprisingly so in most stark-wanks) that they never use the ability to cover their blind-spots mid battle. I've had the idea of Jon using Mormonts raven to survey his surroundings in battle to guard his back in my own fic, but it will be quite a long time before the plot gets to that point unfortunately.

I loved the new chapter. The glimpse into Aegon’s head was excellent. No Mel romance is a bit of a relief, though his ‘plan’ to use her to hatch eggs is nuts. If R’hllor could hatch dragon eggs, the cult would have a dozen dragons by now. And with friends like R’hllor, does humanity really need enemies? The Jon and Bloodraven interactions are gold. Bloodraven is giving Jon some excellent life advice, not to mention some extremely valuable skills. I hope that Bloodraven is smart enough to lie to Jon about his parentage. Jon doesn’t need even more grief.

Honestly, if a skinchanger can master just brushing across the thoughts and perceptions of living things around them, then he could do a passable imitation of Jedi-style combat precognition. Theoretically, he should be able to sense the immediate intentions, and with practice even see through the eyes of every foe that comes at him and ever animal with a view of the fight. And that doesn't even touch on the more obscure uses for animals. A sufficiently strong and focused skinchanger might even be able to imitate some of Skitter's tricks from Worm, like warging a bunch of insects and landing them on critical parts of an enemy's body to get a full 3d mental map of exactly where and how the enemy's body is positioned, and how they are moving, even in total darkness.

I think Jon's parentage will be the hook that actually connects both plot lines. Jon is still drifting and has no reason to involve himself with the royals. Maybe I missed something but why is Melisandre even here? Does she not sense that the threat of Others is gone? What is her game?
