🌧️ Chicago Update: PBR Overhaul, Rain, and Slightly Less Terrible FPS (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone,
Against all odds (and despite BeamNG's editor trying to crash every 5 minutes), a fresh update for the Midtown Madness Chicago map port is finally live. I actually fixed the lightning and materials instead of just staring at the orange sunset bug all night.
What I Fixed While Questioning My Life Choices:
Proper PBR Textures: Upgraded the ancient PS2 era ground materials to proper PBR
Wet Asphalt & Puddle Reflections: Dialed in the wetness shaders so roads and sidewalks look properly soaked. Enjoy watching your cars slide around on glossy reflections.
Actual Chicago Weather : Replaced the eye searing default sunset with a grey, depressing storm system .. complete with heavy rain, and proper cloud coverage.
Streetlights That Actually Turn On: Fixed emissive glows and street lamps so you aren't driving blind through the dark Chicago gloom
FPS Optimization (You’re Welcome): Cleaned up duplicate cloud layers, broken file paths, and bad material calls. It should run noticeably smoother now.. unless your GPU is powered by a toaster.
