You step closer and the water ripples, soft as a whisper.

She turns her head slowly, eyes lazy, confident, like she knew you’d show up the second the sun started melting. A drop slides from her collarbone to her stomach, taking its time. She doesn’t wipe it away. She lets it travel, lets you follow it.

“Late,” she says, but it doesn’t sound like a complaint.

It sounds like a test.

You try to answer, but she cuts you off with a small smile and lifts one hand out of the pool. Water drips from her fingers in slow beats, like a countdown.

“Come here,” she murmurs.

Not loud. Not sweet.

Just… inevitable.

And she tugs, just enough, until your balance breaks and the pool kisses your legs.

Cold shock. Hot air. Her smile widening.

The sunset burns behind her like a halo.

And then she pulls you in.
