Here are some photos of Rich's process for making all the tombstones for this year's Halloween set. If he figured out how to run the camera properly on his own, Rich also filmed some timelapse footage of this whole process that we'll post later (probably right before or after the episode comes out?). He starts with stencil guidelines he made on some magic computer program and then somehow transferred the stencils to black outlines on the actual foam board. None of this makes any sense to me. He then meticulously carved everything out with a special router device and then glued all the tombstones to their bases. Rich got sick for about a week in the middle of this whole process which brought all his work to a screeching halt. That meant he was running out of time before the actual shot and was working on these for something like 14 hours every day for several days in a row just to get them done in time!

we appreciate all of Rich’s skill and craftsmanship 👏 always very creative

Ben

I use that exact same process for woodworking. It's super handy for carving intricate designs

Emma Dawn

So awesome. Rich is the man

Rich is both the hero we need AND deserve

phantos

God bless you Rich Evans.

Timothy Liebe

Oh, I caught such shit on Facebook for daring to point out that any TREK Kurtzman was actively involved in was shit, and Alex Kurtzman was a Hack Fraud™ unworthy of such a franchise...! Makes me wonder what Rich does with those tombstones once you're done filling....

Michael M

You should like...sell these when you're done with them. I'll give you tree fiddy for the lot.

JTruts

I hope you film Mike's disregarding destruction of all these! Seriously tho, whatever you're paying him, it's not enough! What an awesome job, stay healthy Rich, hopefully not related to ingesting foam dust. We need you now more than ever...

Jordan Talbot

We appreciate all of your hard work Rich!

Count Sqwueekula

I thought this was going to be a Rich Evans Masterclass on making pizza. Damn it

Peter Varga

thank you for your hard work, Rich!

Robert Dodrill

I'm surprised you let him have sick days

Scene: Mike's place, October 19, 3:45pm. We see a mostly darkened room, but the shades are drawn incompetently and there are beams of light piercing the darkness. We pan to a bed piled with a visually incoherent jumble of blankets and pillows. Suddenly a spasm of movement in the middle of the pile--Mike rises from the middle of the bed, dressed in only a stained undershirt and boxers. Dark circles under his half-lidden eyes, the area around his mouth wet like Rick Sanchez. Mike stumbles to the fridge, muttering under his breath; we only hear occasional snatches: "... still SICK? motherfucker... BETTER finish on time.... piece of SHIT." Mike pulls a cheap beer from the otherwise empty fridge, downs half of it, then lopes the five feet back to bed and collapses again. The only-half-finished can tumbles to the floor, beer pooling at the foot of the bed. We hear a loud snore. End scene.

I couldn't read the Jerry Atric one without hearing Mike crying with laughter.

Rich Evans is the hero we need AND deserve.

troutki

We appreciate what you do to your body.

Bert Vedder

You’re next and Vacancy are great spooky season films👌🏻

Alex

Please tell Rich I said thank you

Tim Bronkhurst

The Jason Voorhees one is pretty hilarious

floweryfluff

Man, someone sure didn't like ST Into Darkness. Also, Rich! These are fantastic! i hope the foam dust didn't accelerate the diabeetus.

Marvin Falz

Jerry Attric, Unna Lyved - Classic RLM pun names. Probably conceived by Mike. Love it!

Jas_beforeitwascool

Those are so cool! That makes Rich so cool. Be like Rich.

DonMac

Star Trek died sooner than 2013 - it died on May 14, 2005. Everything after that has just being wearing its skin and falsely claiming to be Star Trek.

Chauncey Frend

🤣 all of Jason Voorhees death years

Jody

Gotta love a magic computer programme and stencilly machine!

Suzanne

Thank you, Rich! I hope you got PTO for your sick days.

Amanda B.

You're not paying Rich nearly enough.

Smith

Auction them off to us when you're done!

RedLetterMedia

They really don't like providing even estimated release dates for videos do they? I mean, don't they know some of us need to schedule our BINGE DRINKING?

Amber

Way to go Rich!

Kate Smith

Y'all need to buy Rich Evans a laser cutter! That said, routing out every letter took some SKILL! It looks amazing!

The INVICTUS Stream, Dice Shame & Malevolent

I’m always so appreciative of Rich. It’s so clear that he’s talented, but plays it off so well. Effort like this is of a bygone era and the effort you guys put into your sets every year is honestly inspirational. It would be so easy to drop a green screen and phone it in. Thanks, Rich.

Greasy_Jones

Seeing Star Trek: Nemesis was like when you notice your nana's alzheimers is too advanced to handwave away as nothing. It wasn't the date of death but it was when you become aware it's coming very soon

Dan Hiestand

Rich is a seriously talented guy.

Katie Neff

Damnit, Rich Evans, I appreciate all you do.

Christian Aspen

I hope rich got an extra portion of food for all of his hard work. We appreciate him very much

Coolpak

Love the Unna Lyved and the Jason ones. Rich is a dope guy.

Kellic

The Star Trek one hits hard. Theaters....eh. They will always be around in some form or another. Alamo Draft house is a good example. Expensive but it keeps the idiots on their phones out. But the Star Trek we know and love it probably gone.

Juan Calvo

Me naively thinking he was using a box cutter. Of course Rich Evans had to have the most advanced crafting tools in the World.

Rick Drake

That's just Mike's excuse for making Rich work in sweat shop conditions.

Lionel Mandrake

Hey, RichEvans - YOU FUCKIN' RULE. (and also - Happy Birthday! {which I believe lands somewhere in Halloween-range.})

Sir Digby Chicken Julio Caesar Chavez

How much bluer do my balls need to get before you decide I've had enough and post the video? Just FYI, they're a deep navy now. They'll soon be purple.

Joshua Cubbin

I assumed this was done with a CNC machine and not meticulously by hand with a Dremel. Sweet zombie Jesus does Rich do amazing work.

Jason Carter

Those are some PHD level Dremel skills on display. Kudos to Rich. They look AMAZING.
