Yay! Possessor! Can't wait to watch this later. Thanks boyz

Lisa

Fa la la la la! I see Queen's Gambit. Hoping there's thoughts. Stay safe, stay well, and thank you.

Panda S

Wasn’t expecting this today! 🖤

I saw possessor, and I'm with Mike on this one. It's like my biggest complaint with Martyrs (not the remake, never seen it). That movie was PERFECT without a plot, since it seemed voyeuristic and implicated you in its crime. THEN they tried to inject justification into it and in Martyr's case, COMPLETELY destroys that movie. Possessor wasn't as bad, but the weird need to wrap things up with a nice bow, sullies it. The mystery of why this organisation exists should have remained.

whenever you guys talk about modern 4:3 movies without mentioning pawel pawlikowski's "cold war" and "ida", i die a little. plus, those movies and "i'm thinking of ending things" have the same cinematographer! so close...

Jeremy Heynen

Jesse Plemons played Philip Seymour Hoffman's son in The Master.

Clancy Murphy

I'm pretty sure the janitor in "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" was supposed to be suffering from Lewy Body Dementia. The other events in the movie are mostly the distorted memories from his life through the lens of the dementia.

Rhea

Oh my God I had given up on you talking about I'm Thinking of Ending Things so this is a very exciting development eta: I'm so glad you both liked it! It's probably my favorite film of the year.

Aaron MacWhirter

I enjoyed The Queens Gambit as well but I thought the last 3-4 episodes weren’t as strong as the first 3-4

Amy Hitchner

But if Mike and Jay are dead then who were those guys?

jack

my partner and i did that bit about i'm thinking of ending things too, but i said i should have signed a prenup and he said he should have watched quigley

LOL! Silly Rabbit, chess is a man’s game. Of the roughly 1440 grand masters, only about 30 are women and they are outgunned by their male counterparts by the ratio of 47:1. They aren’t even the top 100 players. Beth Harmon is a fictional character, whom the author based on HIMSELF and other players (mainly men). This is why I hate “female empowerment” movies/tv shows because it’s all based on bull crap. On another note, I want to End things and Moon Base 8 looks good and I’m going to watch.

Thanks lads for this. With vaccines being approved by the FDA, do you think RLM does a quarantine catch up part 6 or 7 before we hit "normal" again?

Jessica

My mom recommended The Queen’s Gambit to me but I didn’t know if I could trust her opinion because she also recommended Godmothered on Disney+...

Giwan Kim

Per Charlie Kaufman's Pauline Kael reference, General Kael and "Eborsisk" monster were in Willow (ehehehehe). Somewhat more low brow, yes, but kinda funny, nonetheless?

Hungry Carrot

hope we get a commentary track this year, been over a year since the last one!

I love The Virgin Suicides! Coppola fucking nailed the dreamlike atmosphere and sense of boyhood wonderment from the novel. I actually think it’s the most different from her other films, LiT included. (LiT is better but I still love TVS). Her films are gradually getting worse tho

I had to keep pausing it when they were talking about Possessor, because every time Mike started talking, my bf would start yelling at the screen as if he could hear him. And I'm like Jay is probably making all the points you're making... but we can't hear him... cause you're yelling... at Mike... who can't hear you... 🤦

Michael Puttré

Now I'm going to have to watch, I'm Thinking of Endling Things. I thought Ghost Story was great. So it's like a challenge laid down: Am I ten-stars guy or a zero-stars guy?

Mogomra Zero

Just finished watching Wonder Woman 1984 - can't wait to see your review of this, uh, cinematic masterpiece!
