Jay Legacy

Let me say, I'm enjoying all of your behind-the-scenes videos. I hope to see more. I really like your version of RLM Masterclass. you don't have to detail how you edit, but enjoyed the process of everything coming together. So I hope to see more editing videos. hopefully, we can see one with Mike and how he does his process of editing a video.

Ryan Morris

Oh awesome! The last time I was on the RLM Patreon I posted that this is exactly what I want to see, the nitty gritty production material. This is super ineresting to anyone who loves RLM because of their takes as film makers and film lovers. And if you work in film or television this is twice as fun to watch!

ZER0 3D

No joke I'd actually love to just be able to have a long form unedited version of you guys just editing, these kind of vids (especially the ones like what you did for Space Cop) are just so nice and calming to listen to and occasionally look over when I pick up something new to utilize sometimes when I edit my own videos.

Davidhidekazu

This is almost therapeutic lmao, I wish I had this level of organization during my editing process

Jimmy Rode

Knew this would be a Jay one. Mike's would just be loud screaming and not using any keyboard shortcuts.

eedo amitay

LOL seeing Tim relaxing on the couch on his phone while Jack was frantically searching for a tape was awesome. You are a great editor Jay!

Carolyn

I'm so late to this video, but I just became a member and I am begging for more editing content! I'm a film student and love to see the process! Thanks Jay!

John Bondy

This was really neat to see and I think I learned some stuff.

Jonathan Rosa

Learned so much about editing from this—thanks for breaking down your process! I always wondered how tricky syncing everything is, and that mirror move is genius lol.

FracturedQuartz

First of all, love this kind of behind the scenes stuff! Second, the audio drift I believe could be fixed with something like Tentacle Sync or Ultrasync. There's also an iPhone app called Catchin' SYNC that uses your phone camera to detect if the video/audio are out of time without having to find out an hour later. Hope that helps, love the NAS video too.

Kate Gottli

At my job we have a ~~~creative exercise for inspiration~~~ in meetings where we have to share examples of "simple solutions to complex problems"... next time I get called on I am absolutely going to use that mirror sync trick from the beginning of this video. Thank you for your service.

Matthew

Great video! Thanks for sharing this.

Jeremy Heynen

I now understand the "I know what that is!" moment audiences have during reboots and long-awaited sequels. As boring as something like this may be for the common man, as an editor, this was my Force Awakens. I'd like to see more videos like this but I also know it can be annoying as it's additional work. Thank you for doing this, Jay.

jas722

dang, I always wondered what went into these. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

Sean Robert Maloney

Thank you for this! I really love this type of BTS content, and appreciate you going through the trouble for us! I even learned some things that can help with my own editing process. 🙂

Jason Lewis

This was great! When does the 'Editing the BTS Editing Video' video drop?

Cyril894

I expected more monkeys on typewriters tbh

Sir Digby Chicken Julio Caesar Chavez

Hooooly shit. I watched two minutes of that and now I feel like I should be giving these guys more than $15 a month. I mean, I won't, but I feel like I should. You're a fuckin genius, Jay! Seriously, it's been really fun watching the development of your comedic timing and creativity with your editing over the years.

Nico Colaleo

Loved this! Also daaamn, what's that great synth pop stock music at 27:05?

Carly

This is fascinating Jay (even to a layperson)! How do you decide who's on mirror duty? (Is it the editor?)

Eve Reuter

This was incredibly interesting, thanks for walking us through the process! I made myself laugh thinking about how many extra computers you had to buy in order to accommodate Mike's growing mass of Star Trek reference clips.

J Sinclair

What program do you use to digitize your blu rays? I was really surprised after I bought a blu ray drive how little quality programs exist for it

Alan Buckley

This was amazing, thank you! Quick question, from start to finish, about how long does it take to edit an average episode of BOTW? Hours? Days?

Kitschy

This was so much fun to watch!

Christina May

Quality Patreon content! I’m just learning video editing so this was fun to watch.

Manuel Johnen

That's so much work, Jay should get paid for it... ... ... ... wait a second... :/

Adam Rhodes 536

This was more in line with what I expected and wanted when I joined. Thanks Jay! This was fun and interesting to watch. Please do more like it

Steve Webber

Thanks for this. Editing has been a fun side thing for me on the side, I love seeing how you guys do it. You should consider making a course or learning videos, would gladly pay for it too.

Mark Fetherston

This was the single best thing I've seen in a while. I'm a youngling video editor, with my helmet on and light sabar waving randomly in the air, so to see the process from start to finish was actually very instructive. It also shows how much work goes into these videos. Amazing.

BoB3k

This is great! Thanks Jay!

BoB3k

release the 3 hour cut! #morerlm

Will Baker

So Jay likes to look at 49 inches?

hamish smith

thank you so much for this Jay, this might be boring for you which sucks but we all love this. So worth the $15 a month.

Harvey Mulvihill

This was awesome would love to see a half in the bag

sgl

Woahhh!!!! A WORKFLOW VIDEO

Daniel Næss

A ton of work, It's no wonder BotW takes time for each release. Thank You for the hours of entertainment you've provided me throughout the years.

Armando Quinones

i think the drifting may be an issue with the sample rate 48,000 vs 44,100 make everything one of the two (for recording and file properties)

Kurt

If you did a behind-the-scenes video of this video, would it be a black frame? I want to offer praise for the film clips and inserts you use. Either you spend unimaginable amounts of time looking for spot-on clips from tons of movies, or you remember way too much off the tops of your heads.

Bort Ward

I don't tell creators what to do, but more of these please.

Ken Scheck

My job is shooting and editing videos and yet I somehow watched a 30 minute video watching someone else edit. But it is worth it to see that someone else sneakily will slow down a moment of footage when it cuts away too soon, or also gets excited when they try something and it works immediately.

Rulers RPG

This is super cool to see!

Adam Kolff

I really appreciated this video. I know these still take effort but the really detailed behind the scenes content like this is my favorite out of all of your Patreon content. Thanks!

Antibios

I'm now positive I have no desire to do video editing

Paladin

Yeah I will stick to music production on Reason and Logic, but crazy the time and talent that goes into your editing!

Olivia Dreisinger

This was interesting. I am not a great editor and prefer writing the script or directing the editor lol.

Jose Luis Castillo

This is a video ive always wanted to see! fascinating
