The time has finally come for three middle aged men to talk about a children's franchise. On the internet!!! Nobody has ever done this before! Rich and Jay are joined by DC Comics artist Freddie Williams to talk about the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film! Freddie has drawn Ninja Turtles comics and Rich has ready many Ninja Turtles comics, so they're the perfect duo to explain all this nonsense to Jay, who just liked to see the silly rat say "Cowabunga" at the end of the film when he was 10 years old.

I was having RLM withdrawals

Piss Tape Expert

Love Freddie he's such a genuinely nice dude.

Cruz Rivera

That brief hiatus was like my dad coming back from the grocery store. Except my dad never came back. Only you guys did.

Amanda Foster

Yay! Gonna be honest and say I may never get to this video seeing as I’m not huge on Ninja Turtles but I totally appreciate its existence. Freddie is always a delight, Rich Evans is a genius, Jay Bauman is a hottie and I love his laugh.

James Quinn

Hated it! If you were in THE KNOW in the late 80s, TMNT was a black & white Indy comic book (with color covers) showing they had ALL RED HEADBANDS! Foot soldiers were not robots, they were humans, and a shout out to Daredevil enemies “The Hand.” Also master “Stick” and radioactive chemical container origin were Daredevil references too. Ninja Turtles were repurposed, multicolored, and made pizza-obsessed to appeal to children 😬 you know who else does that! If they’re in New York City... why do they talk like totally radical surfer dudes from California? Must have something to do with Jeff Spigoli, Wayne’s World, Bill & Ted, etc. Anyway, the more times TMNT gets rebooted, they seem to get a little closer to their original form (maybe). I wish theyd make it right to begin with 25 years ago!

Markus Huppert

This was 100% worth the wait. Great re:view!!

Jessica

Ah! Them reviewing this brought back so many childhood memories 😋🐢🍕

Juan Calvo

Only 1 decade more people, until they get together again with comic book artist Freddie Williams to talk about the batman!

Marvin Falz

I think I watched the movie 20 to 25 years ago, and if I remember that right I didn't like the comic relief turtle at all, because the jokes were all crap (or maybe the jokes didn't translate into German), but when the turtle cried it felt really good to see this goofy guy have some genuine emotion.

Sean Kirby

Freddie Williams? He’s my favorite!

Bill Wilson

I was starting to wonder what was keeping Freddy busy all this time. Now I know. He came. I think Frank Miller's Wikipedia page is locked or under heavy scrutiny. But thanks to the warnings, no one else will be credited as having written the Ninja Rap lyrics by the end of the day.

DonMac

I just this week watched all 3 '90s TMNT movies for this, so I'm ready!

Nick Cameron

That was awesome, totally worth the wait!

run_away

Never did I think I'd hear 'palladium games' and 'red letter media' in one place. Freddie went up a tier in my guest ranking.

Top Hat Monkey

I am older than these guys, and I've never even seen any of the TMNT incarnations. (My oldest son was a TMNT fan.) But it was such a pleasure to watch these guys discuss it, despite my lack of familiarity. Now, excuse me while Horse Ninja and I go off to make sure Frank Miller's wiki has not been tampered with.

Peter Clark

Great Re:View! Well worth the wait. I have to rewatch the movie now.

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

I don't know if this is true, but I heard from multiple people that Freddie is so wholesome that his sweetness is what killed Wilford Brimley.

Brady Mills

This was one of my most watched VHS tapes growing up. Thank you so much for finally making this happen! It was well worth the wait. The music, the costumes, the performances by Judith Hoag and Elias Koteas, and the dark tone of the movie is just perfect IMO. Shredder’s intro scene still gives me chills to this day. It was so nice seeing Freddie again, especially because he got to dive into something he’s clearly super passionate about. It’s really too bad the sequels couldn’t come close to the original.

andrew

Has it been said before that Freddie looks like Josh, but more styled?

FritzTheWolf

That fucking animatronic from TMNT 3 looks like something you’d see in FNAF 2.

Erling Hansen

Never watched the movie but I will watch this. And great to see Freddie again 😁

Erzaad

I have fond memories of TMNT 3. I was a little too young for the first two movies.

Silentphil9

I saw the 1990 film in the theater on my 8th birthday. It was fantastic.

Kelly Nguyen

I checked Frank Miller’s wikipedia page and i’m crying

Manuel Johnen

I watched TMNT back then in a theater, too, and several times through the 90s, but I haven't rewatched this movie for at LEAST the last 20 years... now watching this Re:view, I'm astonished of how good the effects and the turtle suits still look. Pretty terrific stuff there...

Keith Feinstein

I'm kinda amazed you guys never really talked about the film.

Rick Moen

Freddie is such a great guest! Always look forward to him being around.

David Banes

Kid me didn't like the first TMNT because it was dark and there were some very REAL moments that me uncomfortable, like Raphael crying and Splinter comforting him. Now adult me loves it much much more.

Shane

In case someone else didn’t say, the “ninja” thing would be because of British censorship laws at the time. I recall anything “ninja” was typically censored - even throwing stars. This would result in cuts in films featuring that sort of weaponry. I believe it started with nunchucks becoming popular via Bruce Lee and then getting banned.

David S

This was a great convo! So many great points made. Freddie did so much talking and I loved every second of it. Can’t believe I didn’t notice Rich and Freddie as extras in the cult classic that is Space Cop.

Bort Ward

This is my favorite review. The flow of the conversation is very natural and fun to listen to. I haven't watched this movie since I was 10-11, but I'll give it a watch this weekend!

DonMac

I watched the computer-animated "TMNT" movie from 2007. It's a better sequel to the 1990 original than both '90s-era sequels.
