Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episodes 5, 6, and 7 - re:View

Warning: Picard spoilers in the video. Mike and Rich continue their journey into the final frontier of fun, with Star Trek: Picard Season 3 - Episodes 5, 6, and 7! After an exciting and refreshing first 4 episodes, Picard season 3 might be hitting a few bumps in the road as the plot must now begin to take shape (no changling pun intended). Can a Star Trek series actually do something with a vengeful villain, a mystery-box-super-son, and a doomsday weapon/federation ending event? A demented version of Data/Lore/B4 with an elderly synthoid body is found guarding Daystrom Palace in the space. Picard’s mother has still hunged herself but Picard can say burgle to impress for success. Riker gets kidnapped by Honey Bunny after a birdman beats his face in and they've also kidnapped Troi. Geordi loves one daughter more than another because the one daughter likes engineering more. Worf thinks Picard's wine sucks. He's not the only one. Shaw does too. Shaw is a malbec man because he's a smart man. Shaw is a man of good taste. As is Worf. Worf loves Riker's eggs and that's not innuendo. When will Wesley Crushing It show up with the Traveler, that wacky shocker finger-shaped time/space travlin' creepazoid. #FATEOFTHEPLATE

Yay!

David

Well, no laser beams or blood coming out of eyes. Yet.

Jamie Harrold

Uh-oh, a bit of red coming out of Rich's eyes... hope he's not losing faith

Mike St Louis

You guys look too happy. It must not be a train wreck. Yet…

run_away

Really, really needed this today. Thanks for everything you guys do.

I need to know what food sauce caused the stain on Mike's sweatshirt belly. Will this be covered in future episodes?

Matt Oliver

I see Rich red eyes, I get excited

Tomas

Have ye seen the Patrick Stewart cowboy song along milarky, it's just great

mike bouchard

i've been looking forward to this instalment since episode 4. and very very grateful!

As someone who grew up loving Star Trek and RLM, this is such an exciting time. I’m loving the newest season of the show, and I’m also really enjoying the discussions RLM has about it. Excited to see where both go, and totally feeling what Mike says about this being a precipice for Star Trek, to go down the good show route or turn into generic TV schlock. Hopeful that things will pan out favourably 👌

Bill Wilson

I really hope the latest season of Star Trek Picard is either good or bad. #FateOfThePlate

Kyle Swinderman

I’m surprised there was so much in these episodes you didn’t talk about

I still think you guys are being overly kind to this nostalgia shlock of a season. I much rather watch the top 10 worst of Deep Space Nine than get new episodes of this silly, wheel spinning crap.

As always great pacing and cuts to b-roll, unlike in the episode 'Is There in Truth No Beauty?' where Kollos/Spock marvels about being in a body, then realizes the 'aloneness.' It awkwardly cuts to Miranda, but at least it correctly implies that she is alone (in her own way). It cuts back to Kollos/Spock and one line later it cuts to the same shot of Miranda, which is unnecessary because it conveys no new information. But besides that 'Is There in Truth No Beauty?' belongs to my most favorite Star Trek episodes and it's a great example of that human stuff (small and large scale) that I enjoy the most about Star Trek.

Mike Kai (The Limerick Guy)

I need to rewatch the episode where they gave the origin to Vadik. I took it as the changelings were experimented on to generate the virus in DS9. That's not smaultzy, and I kind of liked that this was a consequence of their actions in the Dominion War. If Starfleet was trying to make super spyies... Yeah that's 💩, but I didn't think that's what was happening until Rich and Mike said so. I'll report back. Edit: FFS, Titan got away because Ro damaged the Intrepid's naccel. They could maybe track them for a couple hours but they'd be out of range by the time the naccel was fixed. UPDATE: Rich and Mike were right. There was a single line about being turned into "perfect, undetectable spies, able to drop into any species and able to spread chaos." I missed it probably because of how 💩 it was. It was stated to be during the Dominion war and it was just after they talked about the virus, so I assumed Vadik was just being tested to understand changing physiology in a time of war and to develop a weapon able to kill changelings easily. It could easily be corrected if Vadik just misunderstood the intent of Project Proteus.

Mike and Rich should've waited until after episode 8 to make this. That episode is supposed to resolve or explain a lot of stuff before the wrap-up final 2 episodes.

I know generally speaking that they like this season far more than the first two, but as someone who gave up after the first season, none of this sounds appealing. Just exhausting and sort of stupid, honestly. Maybe it’s executed okay and maybe the characters are more believable, but I’m still good with calling All Good Things the end of TNG. I don’t really see what I have to gain by watching zombie Picard encounter endless mysteries and galaxy threatening villains.

Anyone else drunk and never watched Star Trek but just wanna see what those lovely men on the internet have to say about it anyway?

andrew

Wil Wheaton agrees.

Rob Risley

I have never watched a Star Trek but love watching you hack frauds talk about Picard

Michael Nuccio

They're 1000% setting up this Star Trek Legacy show. It's going to be Shaw and Seven leading the kids of the original cast (picard jr and the laforges) with the original cast themselves (sans Picard) given options for cameo returns and MAYBE even a regular position for Riker in a mentor role so that Jack and Riker can have a father/son thing (After all, Riker Jr died!) Picard S03 will end with all of them assigned to the same ship together and someone will make a quote revolving around the phrase, "the next generation."

Nada Leona Sheppard

I have mixed feelings about it, same as Mike and Rich. I too was enjoying it, and had a tiny glimmer of hope, until the last 30 seconds of Episode 4. The minute Jack Crusher started seeing The Upside Down, I gave up. I'm still watching it, mainly for Amanda Plummer being awesome, and Captain Shaw, who has become one of my favorite characters of the season.

Jeff Kleist

I pay you guys to shit on Kurtzman, and you're not doing it. Can you please finally review digital man since you spend so much time talking about Picardy son. has the Star Trek guy from Deathwish three and Chase Masterson as well as the guy who played Picard son that the Frangi convinced him was his son as a star. It's on your shelf I've seen it :-)

Juan Calvo

Imagine a detective story set in the XIX century, in which the technology of the day might play an important role in the solving of a mystery, but you ignore it... to improve drama? I think a more plausible explanation is that these things are ignored when writers don't do their homework.

🐒💩💩💩 🧐 🙈🙉🙊 universally translate This’ shit

I think the Genesis II device was a double member-berry for both the device in "The Wrath of Khan" and for Gene Roddenberry's '70s TV movie (and failed TV pilot) called "Genesis II" - so it's 2 member-berries for the price of 1

Banta

lol, I saw a headline with one of the revelations from episode nine and I had to look up a recap to see how stupid this has gotten. Not watching this series, maybe it all plays better than it sounds but it sounds like “no one’s ever really gone” and all the other “remember BLANK” on steroids.

John G

Well this season jumped the shark

William Billings

Can't wait for the discussion for the last two .....having seen #9.....have to say ....Really ? Again ? What the hell ? .....Deanna's reaction or more importantly ......OVERREACTION......the big bad dark horrible is ......SNORE !

William Billings

......Have to say, having been disappointed by (once again) the "CURSE OF KURTZMAN".....I just stumbled upon a far more terrifying opponent of the Federation, who, with today's technical special effects wizardry, would have been a perfect callback.....but alas,.......(more to follow upon the LAST two episodes )
