Red Letter Media Animated - Speed 4

It's Spitballs! This is essentially a pilot for an official Red Letter Media animated series. In this series, Mike, Jay and Rich all play versions of themselves as L.A. losers who pitch movie and TV show ideas wherever and whenever they can, always unprepared and off the top of their heads. In this episode, they score a meeting with Jan de Bont and pitch him their idea for another Speed sequel. We teamed up with our favorite animator, Wee Zachary P (https://www.youtube.com/weezacharyp) to create this short, an idea based on the many animations people have done of us ranting weird things and spitballing. Enjoy! https://www.redlettermedia.com

I absolutely loved this!! At first I wasn't sure, because I prefer when you do improv stuff over scripted stuff, but then most of it was you guys pitching a hilarious Speed 4 sequel without any script and it was glorious.

Nick Adelson

I love this format, it reminds me of the infamous Ricky Gervais Show podcast that they later turned into an animated episode on HBO where Karl recounts his tale of actually pitching 2 Hollywood executives a movie idea. One of the funniest things I've ever seen: https://youtu.be/4AaXDSrqB6k

Noman

An amazing addition to the channel. More please!

Joe Triscari

You’ve scratched an itch I didn’t know I had since Mike’s pitch of “The Inside.” Please do more.

The only thing that can stop Keanu Reeves & Sanda Bullox is the bomber.....and bunions!! Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullox and Jacob Tromblley in....Speed 4: Walking Speed!! Coming for 2058 (if not delayed by SAG/Writers strike)!!!

Sven Broos

This was such a delight!

Jermania

I need more of this. Shout-out to WeeZacharyP for the animation. I wonder if they'll use him again or have different guest animators.

Hamilton Perez

Loved this. Need more animated hackfraud pitches!

Hyperdeath_Kisses

LOVE this animation style!! This is awesome!! 😃❤️❤️❤️✨

Omar Del Real

Mike, Rich and Jay have an unnatural ability to improvise pitches and this actually could be a show on a network. Im afraid that they get so good that an actual platform takes them from us but hey maybe they deserve it.

Jan de Bont's desk buttons: * HACK * FRAUD * WILLEM DAFOE

HPab

Fantastic!

Patrick R.

That was fun as hell.

comfortnuke

All the times they come up with a film on the fly... this is perfect.

Mike St Louis

Brilliant. But I’m afraid when FOX picks you up you won’t have time for us… 😥

Incredible Egghead

Reeeeeally cool, guys. I always loved seeing you come up with insanely stupid ideas for movie plots. Hopefully we’ll see more of that in this animated form. That being said: I know you guys have been doing some voice work lately and it shows. You’ve all been really good in this. Especially Rich. He totally nails all of his lines. It’s almost as if he wasn’t a complete hack fraud.

DoktorHorror

Did not expect this to be up my alley, but ended up loving it! Great job!

Andre K

A bit different, I liked it!

AloneOnAFridayNight

Had no idea what to expect but I loved it. Turning the constant stream of wacky, bizarre pitches we always get in RLM videos into a potential animated series is honestly a great idea. Keeping a lot of the dialogue as just unscripted banter is an ace move. Looking forward to more!

Jaap van Muijden

I really liked the structure of the guys coming up with a crazy movie and it being animated like this! The framing could use some work. Just point me to the hole I need to shovel my money into to get more episodes!

The Real Zam

Modern movies aren’t simply numbered anymore. I prefer the title “Speed Limiter”

Becca Wiegmann

This was amazing, the ridiculous plot pitches is one of my favorite parts of RLM this works so good.

Kate

How much did you guys pay for Sandra's Bullocks 🍑to be in this short? It's amazing!!

AllGoodNamesRGone

At first, I thought it was similar to Game Grumps animated stuff i.e. someone takes a clip from an episode then edits and animates over it. But no, this was all new stuff and wonderful. If it's a proof of concept on what an animated series would look like, it's great.

Jessie Zimmer

Oh god, I needed this laugh so much. God bless you. I love you all (platonically and in a non-stalkery fashion). "Isn't it all of them?" killed me.

d0nkatron 5000

Why was Mike’s head bleeding with a bandaid over the wound at the end? I love this format. That animation of that excerpt from the Terminator commentary track was one of my favorite things ever. Glad to see it bloom into something further. Hack Fraud Willem Dafoe

andrew

We’re through the looking glass here, people.

d0nkatron 5000

Thanks for replying. That’s what I thought! I’d hate to see the guys he presses the Willem Dafoe button on!

Bill Wilson

Awesome! A true masterpiece. The structure is is somewhat reminiscent of The Simpsons.

Mr. Rivers

Makes me wish Jay was a Barrista so he can spell my name wrong! 😆 🤣

Katy

That was different and interesting and even a little funny. Looking forward to seeing how these develop further.

Bill Lehecka

You better have the Gremlins 3 Spitball loaded in the chamber.

Carly

I loved this. The fact that you've employed the person who made that brilliant "The Inside" animation kicks absolute dick and makes me so happy.

Julian

Holy shit this was awesome can’t wait for more

steve-oh

This is how I imagine they pass the time while working on the sets.

Reid Josephson

That was fantastic! So funny and I hope you do some more! Loved the animation as well!

Kerri Lewis

This was great!! Such a fun series idea. I hope there are more of these!

Tara S

This was so good!!

AllGoodNamesRGone

I love that you guys are always tweaking the formula, adding gimmicks, and developing new ideas.

Krinkle

Would love to see more of this!

Goldy Loxx

While I understand that animation as a medium allows greater flexibility to illustrate flights of fancy that are tricky to depict otherwise, I do think Jay being shown as that tall is frankly unbelievable.

Kendel Fargo

Just when I thought things could not get any better. The smiles have broken all barriers of time and space!

The Real Zam

Jay looks suspiciously like a bearded Han Solo from the holiday special on speed. I like the animation and the content, very fun. Just like Jay and his coffee, I want more please.
