Half in the Bag: The Kyle Gallner Triple Feature Spectacular!

Mike and Jay go down one of the most unexpected rabbit holes of all time! It’s the Kyle Gallner Triple Feature Spectacular! Brought to you by Vudu™ and Loot Crate™ and Quaker Oats™! Mike loves Vudu. It’s an interface his rotting, elderly, dementia-ridden brain can comprehend. It’s where he watches his movies and loves to click on the little pictures and see what other movies people have been in. This time, Mike saw that Jay’s old friend Kyle Gallner has been in 3 movies in the past 6 months or so. Mike watched the three most recent films and got a little something out of each one. He wanted to share them with Jay. And then with you, the internet audience. Are these movies destined to be classics decades from now? Probably not. They are lower budgeted quality independent films that make a heartful attempt at something new. Plus they do not have the words Clown, Shark, or Exorcist in the title. Did billions of people go to see them like the Barbie movie? Or Oppenhomie? Nope. But you can watch them on streaming for a low, low price and get a little bit of enjoyment in your sad lives for a tight 90! Or put them on a “to watch” movie list when the inevitable fallout drought of entertainment arrives as a result of the strike. Mike and Jay give these three films a fair shake, enjoying them all for the most part. Plus as an added bonus, both Mike and Jay tell stories from their brief but terrible experience on movie sets. Mike also pitches one of his worst movie ideas yet! Everyone can have a laugh at the expense of others! So open a cold frosty beverage of your choice. Sit back and relax. And prepare to watch two brain dead bumpkins from the mid-west struggle to form sentences out of their mouths filled with cheese curds, beer, and wallpaper paste. It’s the Kyle Gallner Triple Feature Spectacular!!!!!!!

OH my God

Amanda Foster

The hair has taken over and I am under its control 🤤🥵🫦

Sarah

He's really good in Veronica Mars and I'm always happy to see him turn up. This video is a brilliant idea.

Manuel Johnen

I still like the "Nightmare on Elm Street" remake...

Manuel Johnen

The genes responsible for the acting talent in the Phoenix and Affleck lineages must cancel each other out in Indiana Affleck... :/

Amanda Foster

Side note: another connection is that Summer Phoenix’s brother Joaquin Phoenix is married to Rooney Mara who was in the Nightmare on Elm street remake which also stars Kyle Gallner.

Jeff Roper

Where the hell is Tim? Tease.

Cal Naughton Jr.

I was gonna like your post but it was at 69 so I couldn't, sorry.

One of the things that makes RLM great... they never go quite the way you expect. There are dozens of reviews for Barbie or whatever movie on youtube. Only RLM is going to give you The Kyle Gallner Triple Feature Spectacular! These guys are always trying to bring something different or new to their series. Also just a reminder to read the video description. Truly another masterpiece *chef's kiss*.

That was pretty enjoyable. I'd watch Mother May I? if Vudu was available in my country. (It's another reason to leave this fucking country.) But anyway, like the genuine appreciation of a good actor. Also, the description!

Bill Wilson

I can't believe Man in swing from "Never been kissed" made his triumphant return as Man in car in the masterpiece "Couples retreat". Also, I don't know if there was scripting or editing involved, but the amount of obscure references in this episode is amazing.

Frazzled Doo

I bet he’d make a great Klingon, he’s got the Robert O’Reilly aura.

Christian Reiswig

I’m just thankful and amazed that Jay knows the band Shudder To Think. That alone made my day!

Speaking of “Vudu” how about a ReView of “The Serpent and the Rainbow”? Mike, it stars (?) Paul Winfield, so maybe you can check if he dies by vaporization, etc.

Sara Iyer

It's interesting that you guys have watched multiple movies with Johnny Berchtold now and had understandably never heard of him, since he hasn't been in many movies. I followed him on Twitter for a long time (back when I was on Twitter) and he was always super funny. Although Snow Fall wasn't great, it's cool to see him getting movie roles.

Andreas

This was a great episode! I never heard of Kyle so I was really hesitant going in.

Drew Mancini

I hope they avoid all major motion pictures during the strike and only focus on small movies like this. Unfortunately, the only movie I was interested in watching was The Passenger, and it’s only available to buy right now.

Back To You

I feel like we're overdue a re:View for Wet Hot American Summer. An underrated comedy classic

Nada Leona Sheppard

This was a really fun, fresh episode, and not another "(INSERT BIG BOX OFFICE FILM) SUCKS!" that a lot of review channels are doing. Kudos to you, lads.

Eric Anderson

Woah, if Kyle Gallner was that kid in the water who confronts Paul Rudd about his drowned swimming buddy, then he’s also the first kid to get thrown outta the van! A stunt double for that part I’m assuming, though.

Alex

I expect some day I'll read a summary of HITB that reads "Movie critiques from two Milwaukee-based filmmaking and film business experts. Co-hosted by failed background actor Mike Stoklasa and his friend Jay Bauman, the former stand-in for Kyle Gallner (Scream, Smile)."

Between Mother may I and The Passenger, I liked the former more, simply because it was very atmospheric. I liked The Passenger but for me the characterization of Gallner's character was a bit too vague. I also found the violence a bit over the top because the dynamic between the two main characters would have worked with a lot less too imo. Anyway, to anybody who hasn't seen Dinner in America yet, go watch it! One of my favourite movies of 2020, Gallner is great in it. It's on several streaming services and out on Bluray.

JTruts

Be amazing if he saw this episode and decided to visit to do a BotW.

Frazzled Doo

Kyle Galstone owes me $5.00!!
