As some of you may know Tefler is one of the few people I support on Patreon and is a part of the reason I even started writing TRC.

Someone on Literotica asked if i got the idea of spinning the bubble shield Kelthor used in Ch. 5 from something in his series Three Square Meals used by the Larnkelnar.

While the name sounds vaguely familiar I'm way behind on TSM and I don't think he's introduced this particular race yet in what I've read.

So, for those of you who are also fans of Tef, and know what this person is talking about. How close are the descriptions? Something i should be concerned about or just a passing similarity?

While I know that any parallels are coincidental at best (the bubble shield wasn't even my first option), I still don't want people thinking I'm snitching other people's ideas.

Thanks in advance for your help on this :)

P.S. please no spoilers, I'm still on the chapter right after Faye does the "I wanna be a real girl" Pinocchio thing at the end. Not sure which one that is.

The only real similarity between the personal, magically-created (or 'psychically-created' as would be the case for Tefler's characters) shields in the two stories is the fact that the damaged portion of the shield was rotated away from the attacker, giving the defender time to repair the damage. This doesn't happen in Tefler's story until John ends up on the other Progenitor's ship. While it is similar, your description of that tactic is used differently than Tefler's description. In TRC, Kelthor doesn't rotate out the damaged side of the shield until it is damaged enough for a hole to have formed. In TSM, Larn'kelnar is surprised that they were capable of breaking through, so he recreates his shield and then starts it spinning at high speed to spread the damage out to try to prevent holes from occurring.

So spherical and rotating are the same but construction and method of damage mitigation is very different. Curiously I think that's due to the weapons used. If Kal had access to the continual beams like Ikuno used to make her pool, the high speed spinning would have proven more effective. However, with how astral combat is described the continual spin would not allow for any kind of counter attack... ehhhh i'm way overthinking this, need to get working on Ch 7. :P

As a fan of both you and Tef I have to say I mentally pictued the shield completely different. Tef's shields are a whole bunch of small hexagons (I imagine about 3 inches) where as your shields are a bubble that has been frozen. It's not interlocking pieces just one big one that you can put a hole in. Enough holes and the bubble pops. You have to rotate your whole shield to move the bubble whereas the hexshield you just have to move a few hexagons. The mental picture and processes are very different in my opinion. Besides sometimes barrowing ideas isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you like someone's idea better especially something as small as shield design you can credit them.
