I quite like the Mycon, though I'm a bit surprised she didn't end up bonding to Kal like Gerda did. I guess her confusion about the entire thing threw it off, or Kal was just resisting it. I really enjoyed seeing her figuring out her strange instincts the entire time

I considered that but it didn't feel quite right. Gerda knew about humans and had a specific purpose in abducting Kal. She was also aware of what would happen between them. To me, the binding was a natural progression. The shroom girl had never even seen another humanoid and was confused by her own instinctive actions. I didn't feel that she had enough... experience? desire? to initiate a bond since she didn't even understand what she was doing in the first place. On that same note, if she had initiated a bond you would be correct in that Kal wouldn't have accepted. Not until he could explain to her what she was getting into.
