The first part of this month has been extremely busy for me, so my apologies for the radio silence. I had another project which had a May 8th deadline that took up a ton of time (and really wasn't worth it IMHO but I promised I'd get it done for them :P ).

so now I'm playing catch-up for everything that has happened since the beginning of the month.

First off HUUUUGE congratulations to Annabelle Hawthorne on winning Author of the Year in the Golden Clitorides Awards!

For those of you on SOL you may have noticed that I managed to place third in the Fantasy category which I am extremely proud of and thank you all for supporting me! In the Epic story category, I placed eleventh which doesn't really seem like much but that fact that I made it into the final round on that was a win in my book. Seeing my name up there with the like of Michael Loucks and Number7 was kind of an honor in and of itself.

Also, in the Fantasy category, Annabelle Hawthorne's The Last of her Kind took second place and I hope she doesn't mind too much but I'm going to take a tiny sliver of credit for that. As some of you may know her HFHM stories were pulled from the running because they were determined to be an ongoing series and not defined and separate books. the people at the GC got a bit overzealous and pulled her Last of her Kind story as well. I went to bat for her (because for some reason they weren't responding to her emails) and got The Last of Her Kind reinstated.

Which then proceeded to knock me out of a second-place finish in that category...

😁😁😁

(It's really hard to find these that don't come across sarcastic AF)

In other news:

I haven't had much opportunity to work on Ch. 27 because of the aforementioned deadline but the new methods of focusing I was talking about in the last post seem to be having some effect. Despite the limited time available, I'm still sitting at twelve pages as of writing this, and about half of that was done yesterday.

Much as I would like to say that I should have it done in the next couple of days, a simple observation by one of the characters threw a serious curve into my plans for this chapter. As such, I'm working with the fallout from that and how that may change some elements as we approach the end of SftS.

For the newer patrons wondering what the hell I'm talking about (admittedly, it sounds a little weird), I only started writing in Nov 2018, and becoming an author has come with a few surprises. One of the oddest ones I've run across comes from trying to keep the characters genuine to their natures. As the author, I expected to have complete control over every aspect of the story, so it came as a shock the first time I wrote a section where Kal did something that was totally what he would do based on his personality but wasn't what I had planned or wanted him to do.

This is one of those situations. While I could rewrite or adjust it somehow, the section feels so honest that I think I would be doing my readers and the book a disservice to change it. That leaves me figuring out how things need to be changed or shuffled around so everything still works in the end.

Welp that's enough of my ramblings for one day, time for me to get back to work!

Be safe! Be healthy!
