One of my patrons brought up an interesting idea (You can read the conversation in the Community tab) which unfortunately Patreon doesn't appear to be set up for. However, it got me thinking about the added dimension that Bun's art brings to the table and got me thinking about not just monthly pledges, but lifetime value.

I have Birch level patrons that are creeping up on the $100 mark for lifetime support, some of you have quite literally been with me since the beginning. It feels unfair that someone who has supported me and been a part of this community for so long miss out on the art I'm commissioning while someone who joined two days ago at the Ironwood level gets access to the nudes and other stuff that Bun comes up with that I snag for the higher tiers.

My thought is this:

  • I'll set up folders in my GDrive with the art I put up here for the higher tiers.
  • Sometime in the first week of the month, I will send out links to those folders. The link you get will depend on LifeTime Support. I'm thinking $30 LTS for SFW art and $50 LTS for NSFW art
  • I'll delete and refresh the folders every few months to prevent access by those who are no longer patrons or those who may have gotten the link by some other means.

To me, this system feels fair. A $2 patron without a monthly limit should hit the SFW mark in 6-8 months and NSFW a few months later, depending on my productivity.  Though I worry that a few people may go down to a lower tier since they are already above the marks I have suggested, I honestly feel those situations will be rare enough to not be a concern.

I also like this idea because it doesn't force someone to go to a higher tier. I know... in the world of predatory business I should always be trying to get people to spend more, but I hate it when companies/businesses do that to me, so I like the idea of not putting that pressure on you. There will still be the incentive of getting to see new art right away but if someone isn't comfortable with upping their pledge, then they have the option to maintain the lower level and get rewarded for their patience.

Do you like the idea? Hate it? Let me know down in the comments, they are very much appreciated.

Enough about that. On with the chapter!

Enjoy!

Thinking from a business perspective, it really isn't a bad idea. Think about mobile games for instance, sure they make most of their money from p2p players and some from advertising, but f2p players perform an important role in advertising, specifically 'word of mouth' advertising. For mobile games, the wiki's and message boards are very unforgiving of the games that require you to pay if you want to progress beyond a certain point, no matter how good the game itself is. I myself have black listed a few game studios for doing this. Making this adjustment for life time supporters is like removing that barrier point for the f2p players. Ideally it should result in free advertising for you. Having said that though, it falls on us supporters to continue talking up the story in online forums to help grow the community on Patreon. That's my 2 cents anyway...
