WIP: Violet V2 (Patreon)

Hello everyone!!! Here is a better look of Violet with the new changes, since I increased the cartoon morphs I had to make more changes to keep her face, I think this could be the definitive version. What do you guys think? it looks old enough or it needs more changes?

I think her face looks a bit too angular here especially around the chin and cheeks. It almost looks like she got plastic surgery.

I understand the need to make her not look like a child, and I applaud you for making a strong effort on all of these models, they all look great! But I do fear that we may have swung that pendulum too far the other way in regards to perceived "age". To me she looks like she could be the sister of the Helen Parr model you made. Like if I google image search "21 year old", which is giving a comfortable distance between "barely 18", the vast majority of the people's faces that come up look very much so a lot younger than her face. I think with Violet it would be good to go for a more "youthful" (which I think is an appropriate term to describe a young adult) face, while obviously not going for a "childlike" face, you know? She is younger, not a child, but not middle aged, you know? Unless you did want to go for a middle aged violet, which to be fair would be interesting! :)

Yeah she kind of looks like a 50 year old Vietnamese lady with botox injections. I think the previous version worked better, most young adults I've seen look like that.

Do you guys realized its kinda ridiculous to say she looks 50 when I just reduced the size of the cheeks and increase the cheekbones a little bit

I'm speaking from experience, I have an aunt in her 50s who looks exactly like this.

My comments were about the violet model as a whole, not necessarily on your most recent changes to them. Once again, I think you are doing a great job, I just feel like maybe the violet face model might be missing the mark a bit.

yeah I understand the criticism and I accept it but one thing is saying the face might look slim and other completly is saying she looks like 50 yrs old likeI don't think with all the experience in the world you can compare a real person with a digital one lol

I'm not sure why you're focusing so much on that one detail, the point I'm trying to make is that her face doesn't really say "young adult" to me. It looks too gaunt for that.

this is a "if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bike" situation why bring your aunt when there are other characters in the same style to compare it? Thats kinda dumb comparison tbh

I think it’s fair to say that you work really hard and make great stuff and that you don’t necessarily see as much success and security as you deserve. You bust your butt cranking this stuff out and not just making stuff fast, but also trying to make the best art you can, and let’s be honest it’s rough when people provide critical opinions. Certainly the 50 year old comment is a sensitive one. I’m not saying that what darth halberd said is out of line, especially considering it is from someone they know, but I can see how it could provoke a strong reaction. I just want to say that we are all here because we believe in you and we appreciate what you do. I don’t know exactly the position you are in, but I feel like I can guess that this sort of things can be difficult, stressful, and perhaps feel thankless at times. That sucks and it shouldn’t be like that. Everyone deserves to feel safe and have access to what they need to thrive and succeed. I guess what I’m saying is least from my perspective, try not to let what darth halberg said get to you. I don’t think they said it to hurt your feelings, and it sounds like they were speaking honestly from their own personal experience. And like, I have seen some younger looking 50 year olds before ;) I could go into the insanity that is human physical appearance, especially the human face, and all the variables that go into that and just how variable it can all be, but perhaps that isn’t what would be helpful here 😅

Yeah I wasn't trying to be insulting, I was just trying to make a comparison based on what I thought when I looked at the image. The reason I went with "50 year old with botox" was specifically because of the sunken cheeks.
