HELLO MY LITTLE STABBERS! Let's get started on the sew along for November! I will be going step by step on grading the pattern to your size for an initial mock-up, adding seam allowance, using a design ruler, and my thought process going through the steps with a beginner sewist + second time corset maker.

Please follow the printing instructions included in the pattern aka print at 100% or actual size.

Pattern: Dolores Overbust Corset

Supplies to start to prepare for the first video:

printed pattern

measuring tape

ribbon

Design ruler

clear ruler

tape

muslin fabric/quilting cotton (no stretch) for mock-up

zip ties or rigilene boning

Pen

Iron

Pins

Future supplies suggestions to continue:

Strength layer fabric

coutil, bull denim, twill, upholstery fabric

Boning

flat steel or spiral steel (for people who need support, think curvy models), and rigilene boning or zip ties (for straight models)

Front closure (optional)

flat steel boning

steel busk

heavy duty metal zipper

fashion layer

the fun fabric that everyone sees

Do: Thick brocade, cotton, denim, satin

Don't: lightweight chiffon, or any thin fabric unless you plan on layering them on top of a "Do" fabric

lining layer

this is what touches your skin, I personally use cotton with no stretch

grommets (I use size 00)

awl or grommet hole puncher (I use size 00)

sewing machine

twill tape (this is to re-enforce the waist)

heat erase pen

poly thread (I suggest the Gutermann brand)

Please let me know if you have any questions on the above and I can't wait to sew along with you! I know at least one of you want to make it in time for a ball, my friend wants to make it to wear as an underlayer for her outfits, and you can apply all these lessons to make other corsets! The videos will be available to all my silly lil guys! And in the future, the videos will be condensed on YT waay in the future.

with love,

Wendy

Omg I'm so excited!!! I'm working on altering a different corset pattern at the moment but I'm going to use it to follow along during this sew-along!! Which reminds me that I need to order my spoon busk soon... Edit: omg this is the exact pattern I got on the strugglebus for like 6 months ago 🥲 Never fully figured it out so it'll be super cool to see how everyone deals with fitting the bust and everything!

You'll be learning with me and how I would go around troubleshooting any hiccups! It's my first time using this pattern but I trust this pattern designer

Sounds like this is exactly what I've been looking for! Omg Aranea's patterns are always so on-point, I'm excited to see what design options everyone chooses too.
