CLASS IS IN SESSION MY LIL STABBERS!!

As promised, part 1 is here and it covers everything you need to know to make your first corset mock up. Now be good little students and take your time on the measuring and grading.

As you can see in the video, my baby sewist friend feels exceptionally confident and she should! She did such an amazing job, which means you can too!!

I will show you in part 1:

Taking your own measurements

How to instruct someone taking your measurements

Finding your size from the measurements

Grading particular pattern pieces

Nadine (the beginner) doing her own grading

Lengthening and shortening the pieces

Truing the pattern pieces

A short segment on notches

Preparing to lace up

Nadine summarizing EVERYTHING

and a cheeky little hint to part 2

This is my first attempt at a longer form video, so I greatly appreciate you being so patient with me as I got used to condensing down over 2 hours of footage to 37 minutes.

Check out the last posts on the supplies needed for this sew along and here is the link to the overbust pattern.

And finally, here is the video!

Please ask all the questions you have and I will answer them down below and also include them in the next video.

From your favorite stabber,

Wendy

I finally cut out al of my pieces last night!

Spoiler to part 2! The designer behind the patterns generally have a hella low neckline and runs a size larger!!

Miranda

Okay, I lied – I taped all of the pieces and cut them BEFORE I graded the pattern. SO –– I've taken all of my measurements, but my mid hip measurement is larger than what the pattern accounts for. The MH measurement is 56 inches.. I haven't watched part 2 yet. So tell me if the answer is in there. I'm trying to follow along as I go so I don't get confused.

No worries!! I actually forgot to edit that portion and will have that out soon! Part 2 is all about adjusting your first mockup. Nadine and I have very different issues with our pattern. I have everything documented from removing excess, adding more, and how to transfer that to your paper pattern. And I added notes about the pattern in the video as well, so I would recommend watching 00:57:53 - Pattern Notes before making your first adjustments. I hope documenting how I would handle all these different adjustments and transferring those adjustments will be a guide for when you do yours! OFC if you have any questions, I am happy to answer and you can dm me pictures of your mockup so I can provide additional guidance.

TILL then, I will edit the portion as a mini tutorial for when you need to add to the pattern if it doesn't grade up to your measurements!
