To be honest, I was completely too hopeful after my size 16 model test results, because why did I think my size 30 model test would be easy peasy melon squeasy???

Ok I am being a biiit dramatic (don't sue me). The picture above is from the first test, without the sleeves, just the shrug and the hood. It did not sit right? The shoulders were way far back, the center back was pulled weirdly, and the neckline? a mess. So instead of redrafting everything, we decided to test one thing at a time. This is something I highly recommend when you make mockups of any pattern you make. I could have made changes to everything immediately and then end up in a whole new different fitting mess.

So, I asked Puff, my wonderful and super patient model, to test just the shrug. No sleeves and no big dramatic hood. During our second call (no pics bc she was topless), I saw things so much more clearly. The pattern needed to be adjusted for sure but things were not as dramatic. I have since updated the shrug, the viviane sleeve, and updated the instructions for attaching the hood.

Fit models are so essential to the whole "becoming your fav pattern designer" role and honestly, I LOVE tinkering the pattern till it fits juuuust right. I can't wait to update you on the third test!!! (fingers crossed)

Yay for proper fittings!!!! I often make the mistake of changing like 3 things at once so this is a great reminder that it's good to do incremental changes until it's how we want it. So excited to see how the finished pattern looks on Puff!!

Oh I for sure did that when I first started and was constantly confused! I had to restart many times to learn 😂
