the thing is while crocodile wants to kill whitebeard, he also has a lot of respect for him, and very little respect for the navy, so it would piss him off to see the navy get a victory over whitebeard like that

My theory on Crocodile is that when he says he doesn't want you to win to Sengoku, Crocodile is speaking to Sengoku as his position in the world government not his position in the navy. But there is still one other theory that deserves merit simply because it's absolutely hilarious yet still tragic in One Piece's usual fashion, and would so also be potentially compelling to a tear-jerking degree

I don't think Kizaru was talking down on Luffy when he said "this youngster sure is scary". It's possible that he was being sarcastic, but I think he was being sincere. Not in the sense that he was afraid that the admirals would somehow lose to him, but the terrifying ability of Luffy to rally and overcome. I'm sure Kizaru is privy to the fact that Luffy defeated two warlords before punching a Celestial Dragon causing them to meet. Then, in the span of a few days, he escapes Kizaru, breaks into Impel Down, breaks out with a small army of notorious pirates, falls out of the sky into a battlefield he has no chance of surviving, and somehow makes it through the gauntlet to come face to face with them... Just imagine what he could accomplish if he wasn't absolutely pathetic in terms of strength (comparatively speaking). That's a scary thought
