I totally understand your dislike for Derek’s sister. I don’t think Shonda Rhimes cares if anyone likes her characters. I’ll even say she takes pride in showcasing her characters’ flaws, without apology. I think that’s a huge reason why her shows made such an impact. There were even times she actually had to fight executives to keep her characters unlikable.
