we're finally getting new Bridgerton episodes y'all 🥹 the Marina situation is such a polarizing one because you do understand that she was sent off to hide away because of her pregnancy and then Penelope's mother was forcing her to try and marry someone so her (and the family's) reputation wouldn't get destroyed so she was being pressured into doing this and I do genuinely think that she started to gain some feelings towards Colin and vice-versa, also you calling Colin "Edward" had me dying 😭 Daphne is acting what she did is on the same level as what Simon did which is absolutely not, now he should've told her that he can but doesn't want to have kids at the beginning of the courtship but even him lying doesn't excuse her actions. Anthony a punk ass bitch, like how are you bringing up Simon's abusive father for a gotcha moment but then as soon as he does it to you suddenly it's too much and you decide to start a tussle in a bar??

Thank you for the reaction update. All I can say is that I love the Bridgerton series but I love Queen Charlotte more. I can't stand Edward I mean Anthony 😂. Lady Danbury and the Queen are my favorites

Turn Up the Mike

🤣 Edward AKA Anthony makes me SICK too ugh. Im excited to watch the queen spinoff

Turn Up the Mike

Daphne and Anthony both irking but especially Anthony, he really gets under my skin lol punk ass bitch is the perfect description. He should NOT have gotten any hits in on Simon tho, that was ridiculous and dare I ask who in the writers room gave that white man better hands than the boxer?!!! 🤣🤣🧐

WAKE IT UP!! Cause I forgot to say it in my comment but literally said it was so unrealistic for Anthony to leave Simon bleeding when Simon holds his own with a professional boxer in the ring?!

I’m really excited for you to see Anthony’s backstory. It gives you a lot of perspective on why he acts the way he does. He gets up to far worse buffoonery in season 2, I can’t wait to watch you react to it!

It honestly just pisses me off that the show focusses on the issue of whether or not Simon or Daphne want a baby and focussed on the aspect of consent. I stand by Daphne being unable to consent and Simon being aware of that, and therefore tbh Daphne technically not even realising how much she violated Simon's consent.... and Simon should've been portrayed as upset and not trusting her near him because she violated his consent, and acknowledging uninformed consent and not being honest or upfront with her so they could even have informed consent. Daphne had the sexual understanding of a child and Simon took advantage of that and essentially raped her since she was unable to give informed consent. Daphne raped Simon whether she was informed enough to know she was doing so and Simon is also allowed to hold her accountable for violating him and his trust that way. But the writers didn't give Simon the proper nuance imo and glossed over how he was feeling.

@15:58. this is so horrible that he says this to her, and it’s B.S. Monday morning quarterbacking - he wouldn’t have and he couldn’t have. My thing is, if he actually really truly loved this girl at all, you’d think he’d have SOME shred of compassion for the *desperate* circumstances she’s in - instead he shamed her and basks in his victimhood. She was about to be sold off as sexual property to an elderly man and subjected to sex with an elderly man like a prison sentence - she had zero options - if lady featherington hadn’t been threatening her and trying to sell her off she wouldn’t have needed to do any of this. / second, when Pen eventually (S3) leaves Colin in a similar situation - approaching a wedding without knowing the truth of the situation, folks have a lot of tolerance because it’s Pen - but here where it’s Marina people vilify her to death - I wonder why.

@40:38. One of my frustrations is that there’s so much weird gender bias in the way audiences react to Simon. If this were a woman who wanted to have the right to bodily autonomy and reproductive choice, we’d be more respectful. We may not like his “why”, we may not think it makes sense, but he has the right to choose to not be a parent. She never shows any understanding, she immediately chastises him for his reasons and his feelings. Using Greys as an analogy: if we get why Owen should not keep pressuring Cristina to have a baby she does not want to have, why can we not extend that to a male character here? Daphne insisting that having kids would bring them joy and he’s robbing them of happiness is really not how everyone experiences having children or parenting (and sounds like Owen tbh). Plenty of folks who have the kind of intense, complex trauma Simon has, do not want to bring their abuser’s biological/genetic grandkids into the world. But whatever his reasons are, they’re minimized here like they’re absurd and inconsequential. Which is interesting in a show that is always highlighting how little choice and autonomy and freedom women have in these times.
