I hate to say it (bc I can’t stand Owen lol) but this was the ONE time I had to give him his 10s. Meredith was dead wrong. On the one hand, disobeying direct instructions from surgeons who are more experienced than you and literally above you in hospital hierarchy isn’t a matter of ego, it can be life and death. She was absolutely messed up for going against him on his patient in the middle of the surgery. Had something gone wrong, it would have been his license on the line as the lead surgeon, not hers. I feel like this is one of those examples that shows why all their workplace relationships are a bad idea lol it makes them too comfy crossing lines and talking to ppl crazy because their personal feelings are involved. And on the other hand, Meredith is coming from a good place bc she loves Cristina. But Owen’s right, they’re not the same person. Cristina needs something different post-trauma than Meredith does, and she needs to respect that. Not to mention that, like him or not, Owen is who Cristina chose to marry and build her life with, not Meredith. So if they decided as a couple that time and space is what she needs right now, that’s fair what it is. I hate when Owen is right LOL but he was. Oh, and I think he only brought up everything with the shooting bc Meredith kind of did first when she suggested that he only scolded her in the surgery because he doesn’t like that she challenges him on how Cristina should be handled post-shooting

You’re very right! Just listened to your take on Owen v Meredith at the end. Meredith telling the gunman to shoot her is a very sensitive subject and he brought it up very callously. It’s disrespectful to the trauma Meredith experienced. I get why he brought it up though (kinda), bc in a sense, Meredith isn’t being respectful to the trauma that Cristina experienced, and that’s I think where they’re really butting heads. This also makes me reflect on how Meredith’s literal entire life has been trauma (a deadbeat dad, a mother who didn’t want her, having to call the cops when her mom tried to k*ll herself in front of her as a child, etc). I feel like people who have lived through so much trauma like Meredith often need to just “keep going” as a coping mechanism. It’s why Meredith didn’t want to talk to that psychologist after the shooting, she just NEEDS to keep going at all costs. And Derek even said it in his proposal to her: “you’re the one who gets everyone else to keep going in a crisis.” So I think it’s breaking her brain to realize that Cristina is different in that way. In a crisis, Cristina literally could not keep going. She needed to slow down and feel the weight of what happened to her in a way Meredith can’t/won’t. (Sorry for my rambling lol but you had me thinking! Great reaction as always <3)

I 100% agree. Meredith was dead ass wrong because how is Meredith gonna insist that Christina needs to work when we all saw how her last experience in the OR ended with her laying on the floor unable to move. Christina and Meredith are not the same. Meredith be doing reckless shit at times and Owen was not wrong about that. I love my girl Meredith but this was def one of the times she needed to be checked forreal.

@31:15. I appreciate that you are ride or die about backing Cristina and Meredith, but sometimes they’re wrong. In real life, no one would give a frick about their brilliance - they would have both been fired a million times over if they pulled stuff like this in the surgery situation - it’s fatally dangerous. They both, at times, are disrespectful, lack humility, and take risks that are not tolerated in this profession. / The context of what Owen referenced is relevant. Cristina BEGGED Meredith to not come into the operating room and to stay seated in the scrub area - Cristina said that’s what she needed to operate on Derek. Then Owen reinforced that and told Meredith to stay there. Meredith, while pregnant, ignored that, and walked in there and confronted a gunman, and she frequently takes risks like that, endangering her life - which Cristina has confronted her about before. Owen’s point was, Meredith might have instincts that don’t feel safe for other people.
