first and foremost: Troian bitch you better ACT!!!! ugh she’s just too damn good. but with Hanna; she is known to make very emotional, impulsive decisions so this feels in character for her. like my girl means well, but she very often will make the wrong move. that isn’t out of her character. and with Emily yeah she was pissing me off this entire episode. i remember a bit of friction between her and Spencer when she started dating Toby, but since then it hasn’t really felt like she’s been super close to Toby, so for her to choosing not to believe Spencer because of this “closeness” was off to me and she was just moving like a bird this episode. Also with committing Spencer, they specified that she’s a Jane Doe so they don’t know her name, age or anything like that. so they gave her a psych evaluation, saw whoever this person is clearly isn’t well, so let’s put her somewhere safe while we figure out who she is. definitely not the most unrealistic thing the shows done.

Actually…you can bring a person in for a psych evaluation if found wandering confused through the woods and they appear to be a danger to themselves or others and/or unstable. 72 hr. Psych evaluation follows where the psychiatrist decides if you need further care or not (considered a 1013 in the state of GA). If you need further care then you stay for treatment—if not you go. Age has nothing to do with it if you are a Jane Doe. When her parents arrive they can negotiate something with the psychiatrist. I worked at a mental hospital for 3 1/2 yrs as a behavioral technician lol.

this is random but one thing that always gets me thinking when watching this show is thinking about how spencer’s actress is genetically part black and Emily’s isn’t black at all😂😂

To be fair the show has given many statements of Emily and Toby’s closeness but they do this episode a disservice by not having shown more of them up until this point. But she did say they told each other everything, they had birthdays gifts for each other, in 3x16 they made it seem like she had been over to his loft a lot so I’m not sure why they didn’t just give more scenes but I don’t think Emily’s mentality this episode was entirely unwarranted

they had that one scene in his loft earlier this season, and the birthday gifts we see for the first time this episode. season one did a great job showing how much Toby’s friendship meant to Emily but since then you can count their scenes together on one hand. the show telling us something and it actually being shown are two different things and we have not seen this strong bond that would put Spencer’s words into question. in my opinion

No yes I definitely agree with you on that point I was just saying they probably thought the tell not show was enough because they had other relationships to focus on after season 1 but I definitely think that was a mistake

i feel like if they hadn't ignored emily and toby's friendship since season 1, emily doing all this would make more sense. she is loyal to her friends so it would make sense for her not to believe they would betray her, but we've barely seen emily and toby interact in the past two seasons.

It’s more common than you think . I had a friend in high school that was dating (being groomed by) a grown man and her parents were all cool with it. They all worked at the same place. I remember being in school camp and her gushing over him and me and my other friend listening with disgust on our faces cause even at that age, we knew it was so messed up so it’s funny that a couple of teenage girls could see the problem with it but her grown ass parents couldn’t. Anyways fast forward, they’re still together and have a couple of kids. She got pregnant shortly after graduating high school and she deferred her uni and never resumed it which is insane cause she was bright and was going to go to uni to study medicine!
