Caroline throws a party for Elena's 18th birthday, but Elena is distracted by thoughts of Stefan, who has been missing with Klaus for several months. Damon is conducting his own search for his brother, but he is not sure that finding Stefan is such a good idea. Meanwhile, Jeremy is struggling as he experiences unsettling visions, Caroline and Tyler face a new and unexpected challenge.

AGHHH that Tyler and Caroline kiss is EPIC one for the history books. still talked about by my friends (who aren't crazy fans like me) and I. Like AGHHHHHH the tension to the jealousy to the argument to him taking cues and consent from her to interrupting him with that KISSS AND THE MUSIC AGHHHH

OK I was hoping you would at least feel the "drop in the ocean" needle drop stelena moment and your reaction did not disappoint 😭 like... angsty stelena and stefan tearing up and just emoting after an entire episode of hopelessness and horror for them both. it's actually too much for my soul. season 3 is just so fucked up. 🥺❤️‍🩹

I think the main thing about S3 is that it gives us a chance to MISS stelena. As much as I personally love Stelena, they're all we've seen up to this point, so they're kind of just... there. Also like you said, they're a deep, sappy, emotional romance and kind of a staple, not necessarily new or exciting. BUT imo the TVD writers are so good at shaking shit up and throwing things off balance to make us care again. Taking away "boring" earnest Stefan and Stelena's grounding "pure" romance and forcing them apart, and watching them as individuals go through morally grey, tear-at-your-heart shit, (not) coping, and angst without one another... it gives us a chance to miss them. I left a lengthy comment the last time you mentioned not being invested in Stelena lol, and I wasn't going to spoil so I was waiting to see, but I had it in my head (hoped lol) that S3 might be a moment where you appreciate them more or at least feel something for them. It often does for people, myself included!

SEASON 3 n 4 was the shows peak frl !!! butttt tyler / caroline will always be my hearts !! i be feeling bad for damon bc steffan didn’t have to do that .. poor elennaaaa now jer he should’ve told bonnie as soon as it happened like😭😭

that stefan and elena phone call with a drop in the ocean playing in the back is a very serious, VERY sensitive topic for me. that scene changed me OH my goodness!
