Like I get Meredith messed up things for a lot of people and ruined the Alzheimer’s trial but dude she’s still your wife and she brought your baby home so suck it up and do better

Do I think Derek overreacted? Yes definitely agree, 100%. But I'm sorry I do get where he is coming from.... This is his career that Meredith messed up and it's not just a career it's the fact that this is actually something that could be so helpful and save so many people and now it's gone. The reason why he even started this trial is because of his fear that Meredith might one day get it. So he is not just angry at Meredith but he is also mourning the possibility that he could have cured this horrible disease.

Apologies in advance for the super long message LOL. This part of the show was always SO tough for me because I have two minds on the whole Derek v Meredith thing. On the one hand, I TOTALLY agree with you. They have a CHILD together. For Derek to just disappear like that and ice Meredith out is ridiculous, especially considering he’s the one that set the whole adoption in motion! Also what he said about Meredith maybe not being a good mother was literally the worst thing he could have ever said to Meredith, and the fact that he never came around when he calmed down and apologized at least for saying that is disgusting. It just showed me that he’s still that asshole from the early seasons that called Meredith a WHORE when he was the one who had a whole WIFE out of nowhere!!! Now, on the otherrrr hand lol. I actually think what Meredith did was INSANE and truly awful. I don’t see what she did and what Izzy did with cutting Denny’s L-Vad wire as different at all. The only thing that’s different is that she did it for Adele and Richard. But I look at it this way. A) If it were my loved one affected by Meredith switching the vials and my family member ended up with the placebo instead of the possibly life-altering drug that was giving them the last piece of hope for a few more lucid years, just so she could give it to her personal friend, I would be LIVID. I’d sue the whole hospital and want her behind bars LOL. So I can’t really be mad at them for firing her. I wanted Izzy fired too lol. Some jobs have room for you to take liberties. Being a healthcare professional is not one of them. B) Even with all I said about Derek above and how much I actually don’t care for him lol, I do think he’s SUPER valid for being pissed off at Meredith. It’s bigger than just tampering with a trial, that’s his career, his reputation, his eligibility to be approved by the FDA for any more potentially life-saving research. He won’t get grants, he won’t get taken seriously. He’s an amazing surgeon, so he won’t lose his job. But it does significantly change your reputation and course of your career to be blacklisted like that because of someone else’s choice. Not to mention the rest of the hospital, like what Bailey was saying. So to an extent, I do think he’s only human and deserves time to be pissed as fuck at Meredith lol. You’re messing with my career! Ultimately though, this is really when I started to hate Derek bad LOL. Because at the end of the day, calling her a bad mother was disgusting to me. I could never get past how he just goes for blood whenever Meredith does something he doesn’t like. As a husband and father, that should never come off your lips. *end rant* 🤣 Shoutout to Shonda for giving us so much to chew on! They were really WRITING

Omg- when you said "They better not do some stupid shit like kill Owen", I was SO confused, then you immediately said "and have Christina running back to him. I was dying. Also, when I rewatched the series I realized that Derek's anger was almost definitely caused by the idea that he could have cured the thing constantly looming over Meredith, that may take her away at a very young age. He could have chosen to do anything but he chose to try to find a cure for Alzheimer's- I definitely don't think that's a coincidence. THAT BEING SAID- his feelings are valid but his actions are not. I don't know if he is even self aware enough to understand his feelings plus he's always been a little bitch when it comes to dealing with his feelings. He acts like Meredith is the weak one but she is so much stronger than he could ever be. She's not the one who went running off to the woods, growing a weird beard and day drinking because her feefees were too much.
