from what i understand, the creator of the comics clarified their relationship is very profound and familial. while the producers of the show noted that this specific bond between them allowed daryl to show a softer, vulnerable side, experiencing emotions he is not used to / doesn't really understand. (which i found super interesting!) 🧸🧟
