I just think Carl is trying to have faith that not everybody is a bad person. I definitely agree. They need to have their heads on straight and not trust everybody, but I just think he doesn’t want to throw away every opportunity in case someone actually is good and could really help them or he doesn’t want them to immediately kill someone who could be innocent. He just has to be smart about it.

the guy all the way on the end is the guy carol and rick meet w his gf who had the broken leg and he leaves carol bc she killed karen and david and that guy is who we meet n he actually made it till terminus kinda crazy thats why they zoom in on him

if you think about the terminus people turned out the way they did because no one has helped them when they needed it u can see that they weren’t eating ppl they were getting tortured and raped bc no one saved them so carl is saying not everyone is bad ur gonna need to meet new characters childddd lmao ppl are die but u help ppl and they can change they can be telling the truth. idk i get what carl was saying. but more ppl is better for ur group. like u dont stop being a human, bc when u do u become the monster that u feared the whole time. the whole show its about keeping ur humanity honestly

I personally think the Terminus people turned out the way they did because they are demons. Circumstances contributed, but there are plenty of ppl in this world that have experienced what they have and would never become monstrous cannibals who lead ppl to their camp to viscously kill them and eat them as a result. There's no excuse for that imo. And I don't disagree with what Carl was saying in general. I disagree with the idea that we can trust Gabriel (and anyone else we JUST met) just because "everybody can't be bad." Clearly. We all know that. But they've known the man for less than an hour. So him questioning "why?" when Rick says he didn't trust him threw me because helloooo, have you been asleep the past 4 seasons?! Lol that's why I said there's a fine line between having hope and being stupid. It would be STUPID to have over our trust to Gabriel so quickly just cuz everybody ain't bad.

Exactly. I agree too! But he was acting like he didn't understand why Rick didn't immediately trust Gabriel once they got to the church, and that's why he lost me. You're exactly right when you say they have to be smart about trusting others. I personally don't think Rick saying he already trusts Gabriel at this point would be smart. I actually think it would be incredibly stupid. So that's why Carl pissed me off lol if this was 2-3 episodes after we met him and Rick still didn't trust him, I'd STILL understand Rick tbh. But if Carl said what he said here at that point, I'd be much more understanding.

that’s very true could all very well be true about the terminus ppl and i’m not saying to trust gabriel right away or anyone for that matter that is completely stupid, but we just give them some time and not throw them away just because we’re nervous about new ppl because of the trauma they experienced. i just think they just need to do exactly what rick said he on guard at times and ur never safe around anyone. idk it is interesting topic. i just think more ppl is gonna help the group

Asking Carol to come clean to the group about what she did to Karen and David (Rick and them know alrdy) they were SICK and carol was scared vs. hiding what happened to the Lizzie.. asking Carol to keep that secret when she already has trauma and a lost daughter..is sick, if any secret needed to kept it was about HIM fucking up and HE was prbly scared Rick would beat him again if he knew the lasp of judgement ty has had for monthsss.. he also worked with the governor forever ofc he would spare Martin. And idk just got sad thinking carol could’ve unwinded or confined in HER group but tyresse told her not to… ok

I think sometimes Carl just struggles with morals because of what his mom Lori told him when she died: to not let this world corrupt him. Sometimes he struggles more with it than other times. Also yes, he has been living in this world like this for a while now, but human bodies and minds don't really care about how the world is. Kids in actual war zones also still go through growing up, puberty, trauma and all of that, it doesn't go away just because they have to live that life. So yeah, even tho this is more normal to him atp he is still suuuuper young, his brain not fully developed until he's around 25 (an apocalypse of any kind doesn't change how the body development and biology of a (non zombie) human works, at least not in such a short time), he's probably very traumatized with no therapy or other type of regulations, lost so many people he cared about and now puberty and all that is starting which is messing with his mind and body even more. Like a lot of kids in the normal world struggle like crazy to the point they end up hurting themselves or worse, imagine those normal feelings of a kid plus the state of world Carl is living in. And then sometimes he seems to snap and other times he wants to listen to what his mother said on her deathbed, to basically not become a monster, or like Shane when he lost it, or people like the Governor. Do I hardly disagree with what he does sometimes? OH YES. But I also cut him a lot of slack and I feel so bad for this kid. Cause that's what he is at the end of the day, a kid. No child should live in constant fear and survival like Carl has to in this fictional world and it's so sad some kids in the real world are basically living like this minus the zombies. So with all that information we have about him it's not thaaat crazy to me that his emotions and morals shift from time to time. Also, his decisions, views, emotions and morals are still those of a kid with a brain that's only halfway there. He is literally just now learning how to act and deal with things and top of that he has to navigate all of it in a world like that. And the brain needs to make mistakes and it needs wrong or hard decision making and conflict to correct itself and then learn from it. And that growth of a kid in this type of world is what we are watching with Carl as he grows up. I love your reactions to this show Mike, I can't wait to see moreeee boo XOXOooooo

Very astute of you Jojo!!! Very great points here. 🫶🏾 I do think by the same logic, we could ultimately give grace to everyone on the show and excuse many ppl’s actions, even Terminus ppl. Cuz even adults with fully developed brains are susceptible to intense psychological harm, mental illness, etc. Especially in these conditions. So perhaps many of the horrible ppl we’ve met have reached such a deeply intense stage of grief from loss or a state of helplessness that truly explains their actions the way all of what you said can explain Carl’s thought process. And I think that’s where I personally draw the line when it comes to understanding someone’s behavior and offering grace for certain decisions/mindsets. If Carl being young, traumatized, grieving, and trying to hold onto Lori’s words earns him grace for thinking this way and potentially making a dangerous decision down the line, then I feel like I'd have to start extending that same grace to a LOT of people 😭 Tyreese letting that man live ultimately contributed to Bob getting eaten. The Governor was clearly a deeply traumatized man who had lost his family and completely snapped. And I JUST met Dawn, but something tells me ain't nobody thinkin bout that lady's trauma or psychological reaction to living in this world LMAOO. I know Carl saying everybody can’t be bad is nowhere near as extreme as what some of these people have done. But I think it feels mostly harmless here because his judgment didn’t get anybody killed. If they trusted Gabriel because of Carl, Gabriel turned out to be on some bs, and somebody we loved died because of it, I think folks would be having a very different conversation about whether Carl should’ve known better. So I can definitely understand why Carl’s morals fluctuate, and your explanation actually makes me understand him better! I just know that in this world, being wrong about somebody ONCE can get your entire family killed. So Carl can keep Lori’s humanity lesson in his heart, but Rick better keep that gun in his hand! 😭😂

Hahaha I love you Mike.❤️ And I love when we can have good conversations about this type of stuff without being mean to each other. Like some people take these shows waaay too serious. I agree with you and didn't even think that far tbh, cause then we should actually give the same grace to other people, but we simply don't. I think it's harder for me because he is just a kid. But you are right! And The Governor is just sooo unlikable hahah. And yes, Rick better holds onto that damn gun like it's his 11th finger lmaooo. 😂😂 Have good day Mikeyyyboo❤️
