In my opinion, Damon is honestly right. The whole point of taking Elena out was to teach her how to feed without killing anyone. Like Damon said, it really doesn't matter what methods you use as long as nobody is getting seriously hurt or killed in the process. If making feeding fun is what it takes to stop vampires from ripping people apart, then that's a pretty good trade-off. It's better to teach Elena these things early on so she can learn to control herself before she ends up massacring people every time she gets a whiff of blood. Because at the end of the day, a vampire's natural instinct is to kill, so learning how to feed responsibly is something she needs to do.
