spoiler for him kinda, so he shouldnt read this. but i personally like the triangle, but tbh im happy that it actually stops at season 5, so he doesnt have to deal with it longer anymore. and i think that was the right time to stop it

to answer your question about Damon and the flashbacks.....yes. they retconned the hell outta Damon's character to make Delena make sense. Damon never initially met Elena first nor had that conversation with her because Damon in season 1 was NOT about chatting up a Katherine lookalike. He was heavily obsessed with Katherine at the time and if he had ran into anyone that looked like her before Stefan had a chance to he would have abducted her ASAP. The writers retconned their first meeting because they knew they were gonna throw that it for season 4 as a compelled memory regained during her transition that she had no knowledge of. the flashbacks here on out are plot based not character based so a lot of them aren't going to make sense as the seasons go on.

Also you were correct, the Damon we knew before the writers acted like he was always a decent person would have most definitely killed Charlotte instead of looking for a way to free her of some sire bond and the whole sire bond itself is ridiculous because if it's so rare how did it happen to Damon twice? plot driven nonsense

I get why Caroline is feeling the way she is about Damon but the way she talks about him in front of Elena even though she knows about the sire bond and the effect it has on Elena seems unnecessary and a bit too much… also kinda rubs me the wrong way that she’s out there giggling around with Klaus who’s literally the reason for almost all the problems right now but then judges Elena for everything related to Damon

Stefan and Caroline irking me cause wtf do you mean you feel guilty because of Klaus…? Again with the hypocrisy like feeling bad for Klaus, talking about sum we are like him, but then holding other characters to completely other standards (Damon, Katherine,etc..) and judging them for every single thing

yea i feel like that’s a bit of a reach. i do think they added it in tho for pushing delena and it never actually happened except for plot, but i don’t think damon would have done that 😩.

This season is where I personally believe the writers get quite sloppy like Caroline hates Elena being with Damon "because he's Damon" but the show never provides any insight or discussion or even an actual apology as to what happened to Caroline/between Caroline and Damon in S1. Like the messed up scene in the bathroom is the only time it is discussed and it was genuinely so stupid like Caroline implying that sleeping with a lot of people is worse than being a murderer (like ???) and then Elena's comment about Caroline jumping into bed with Damon (again like ?????) and Caroline not correcting her, to me it felt like the writers were trying to rewrite what happened in S1 so fans would warm up to Delena since at the time Delena haters were using Caroline's abuse as the main reason to hate...which yeah valid imo. And all this BULL going on with Stefan like lowkey I believe they purposefully made Stefan extremely unlikeable in S4 to justify Delena. I'm not even denying the fact that Elena and Damon have chemistry because they absolutely do and they absolutely would've gotten together at some point...I just wish we could have seen Damon be a bit more proactive with his growth before they got together to actually prove to Elena through his actions towards others (like her loved ones) that he has changed and right his wrongs he committed against her 2 best friends...I have so much more to add to this but I can't without spoilers lol The sire bond stuff with Charlotte and Damons behaviour at that time is another reason why I find it sloppy because he is supposed to obsessed with Katherine during that time, he described it as just killing time waiting to release Katherine and we're expected to believe that Damon wouldn't kill this rando?? Like the same Damon who killed Jeremy cause Katherine pissed him off like plsss bsffr and also the sire bond for vampires is apparently super rare but it's happened to Damon twice he's like not even 200 years old yet
