Devblog #76 (Patreon)

Hey Wizards!
Shady Character One here!
I forgot to write the devblog last week. I honestly remembered it only on late Wednesday evening when the rush of preparing the latest release subsided a little. This release was so much more work than I anticipated. I finished writing a week before the release (which is almost a week earlier than I usually do), and it was still not enough time to do everything else. I was only saved by the fact that our proofreader (yes, we have a proofreader now), who returned the script with his edits two days earlier than I asked him to, gave me enough time to do everything else.
It really shows that I need to re-evaluate how I'm planning our updates. Of course, in the case of any regular update, a week of edits, proofreading, and translation would be more than enough, but for such a massive update as this one, I would need to finish writing at least two weeks in advance next time.
But I will try to take it a little slower for the next couple of updates. This will both give me time and a chance to adjust to the new workflow, as well as give Shady Two some time to catch up with the artworks again. I really picked up the writing pace in these last few months, thinking that I was lagging behind, but just a few days ago I remembered that most of the time I was barely writing was on purpose. When I spent most of my time working on the journal and the dressing room, that was mostly done for Shady Two to have more time to close the gap we had in our artwork department. And then I went full throttle again and left her in the dust again...
Shady Two did a lot in preparation for this update too. Designing the enemies for the trial. Working on new backgrounds, a new costume for Violet, and an artwork for her date. And yet, she too didn't manage to do everything she wanted. Take this artwork for Bassant's trial, for example.
Well, you'll probably see its completion soon. Until then, I'll focus on making the game wider instead of taller again. I will still need to write several events for the classes, as well as work on some girl-story events that do not require any new artwork. Hopefully it will both keep my ego safe (since I'll be writing) and give Shady Two more time to catch up with my writing again.
I guess that's it for this week's blog. I promise I won't forget to write one next week.
Shady Character One, out!
