(Swiped this idea from Franziska.) I'm in need of ideas for my daily drawings (I resorted to painting a Porg last night, which looked totally indignant with me and the world), so save me from indignant drawing sujets!

The suggestions can be anything that might make a good sketchbook page. I can't promise I'll do any given idea, but if I pick one of your suggestions, I'll post it, even if it turns out embarrassing, haha.

Preferred: Silmarillion, Star Wars VIII (some new art will come, I promise), and generally, animals that I can sketch from ref (those are great for gouache practice)! Characters are better than scenes, but since I want to try a technique of gouache for backgrounds and watercolour for figures, that might work too!

Great ideas, everyone! I'll be sure to keep these handy whenever I pick up my sketchbook this month.

Happy New Year! Porgs are entertaining though....... and now, because I’ve had too much coffee, I am imaging key Silmarillion scenes with a Greek chorus of porgs.........

What about someone unworthy of the Silmarils getting burned?

Also, the Thistle dragon was lovely - How about something along those lines again?

Gimli meeting Galadriel, or why not Gimli and Legolas arguing - or being friendly, in the Glittering Caves underneath Helm's Deep? Oh, and why not a real puffin! I love puffins.

I got few more. A few years ago you painted “And Morgoth Came.” Why not also do “And Sauron Came” to contrast two very different comings. (“And Sauron came. Even from his mighty tower of Barad-dûr he came, and made no offer of battle.” Silm, Akallabeth) Another one that would be great to see is Ar-Pharazon’s last moment of doubt before he attacks Aman. (“And at last Ar-Pharazôn came even to Aman, the Blessed Realm, and the coasts of Valinor; and still all was silent, and doom hung by a thread. For Ar-Pharazôn wavered at the end, and almost he turned back. His heart misgave him when he looked upon the soundless shores and saw Taniquetil shining, whiter than snow, colder than death, silent, immutable, terrible as the shadow of the light of Ilúvatar. But pride was now his master, and at last he left his ship and strode upon the shore, claiming the land for his own, if none should do battle for it.” Silm, Akallabeth) And last but not least, I’m partial to owls. It would be great to see some sketches of them – real life owls or owls from Harry Potter.
