I just love drawing crazed-looking dragons. When I was younger, I always drew them like sleek and pretty snakes, and I couldn't imagine how to turn them into ugly brutes, until I looked closely at crocodiles and analysed why they scare me so much. ;)

And yay - welcome to 8 new Patrons! Welcome, Lauretha, Ale, Jana, Melanie, Lacey, Anette, C., and Ali!

74 new Patrons joined us this month! I know that I expected an uptick with the special offer, but I'm slightly floored by the inpour! I'm so glad you're all here!

You probably know that all my Patrons get a 20% discount on purchases from my Etsy shop. To use it, you can just go through this link (which applies your discount automatically) or enter the code 20FORPATRONS at checkout.

Still no news from the pin manufacturer... we're still well within the timeline, but gosh, this wait is about as bad as my "Cannae" book a few years ago.

Phantastisch, Jenny, absolut phantasisch. Gigantesk. 😍

Lyra

He looks both terrifying and pathetic - with those legs too short/weak to actually support his bulk, just as it should be! You make him look like something that might actually exist. Awesome.

That was hands down the best creature design advice I ever came across - make up an imaginary creature out of existing ones. There's the cruel-looking eyes and dull snout of a crocodile, the pathetic legs and inward paws of an iguana, scales inspired by dragon lizard armadillo. Mix and match, for effect. :)

Love your young Glaurung! It's perfect. ^^

Yay, always like your dragons (obviously) - just as they should be, and this is no exception!
