I made it! Gosh, I'd forgotten what it's like to plough through a piece like this, haha.

I'm extremely pleased with the result now. Do you know that, during almost every single stroke, there was a little voice at the back of my head that said: "Alan Lee will be there. He'll see this painting. MAKE AN EFFORT, WILL YA!" It was a very useful little voice.

I apologise to everyone who is still waiting for a reply from me. I was going to paint some 4-6 small-scale originals prior to Birmingham, and then this design took up the entire week (and killed my eyes, ugh). I'll get round to everything, I promise!

There will definitely be prints of this, and after Birmingham, I may do tote bags with the design, but I'll check with the TS first.

This is absolutely perfect!! Am I understanding it correctly, are you making t-shirts with this painting?

Lene R.

Gorgeous!! I really want something with this design on it!!

Ewa Kuczynski

Wow. Just love this. It has been a real joy watching it evolve. I'm very lucky as I'll be at Tolkien 2019, so I pre-ordered my T-shirt when I registered. But I really hope this image will be available in other formats as well.

Lyra

I'm in awe at the design, the execution and the speed at which you did it!

Jenny Dolfen

The Tolkien Society are using this as the official t-shirt for the event in Birmingham next month. I will certainly sell prints, and on Monday, I'll know what else they'll let me do. :)

Troels Forchhammer

Well ... AND Ted Nasmith, of course ;) I think you should be very proud of the result, and I'll proudly boast it whereever I go (except, I suppose, when the t-shirt needs washing .. ;) ) - and if anyone expresses displeasure with it, you may threaten them that you have a Great Dane you can set at them :-D

Jenny Dolfen

Haha, I will! Of course, I'm really looking forward to seeing Ted. His style and subjects are quite different from mine, but Alan Lee has really been one of my heroes since youth. :)

Evelyn Maire

Oh this is so beautiful!! I hope both Alan and Ted get to see it, I think they'd love it.

Jenny Dolfen

Not to brag, but I spent a lot of time with Ted at the event in 2012. :) He's a fantastic guy. We unanimously decided that he'd admire my characters while I'd admire his landscapes and his skies. XD

Magnificent! (I've been on the road, so I've been watching the progress as Patreon emails show up in my inbox, but this is the first I've had a chance to comment.) I love it, and really really hope you'll do tote bags of it. I don't *need* another bag, but this makes me want one...

Sophie JC

Ah amazing! I love it!

Kate Neville

This is gorgeous. I was hoping to get to Birmingham, but family/house stuff has had to take precedence. I will surely want a print!
