Traversing mountainous terrain is a hard endeavor on its own. A bridge could help. But not if it has two gates, a portcullis and a tall wall. You can always try climbing around, but you may end up breaking a few bones.

"He who controls the bridge, controls the mountains"

— some dwarven commander

The gatehouse has three levels:

  • The lower level is where the gates are. Use it if you have a battering ram.

  • Upper level is where ladders leading to the top can be found, as well as the machinery to operate the portcullis. The arrow slits are probably too small for you to move through.

  • The top level has a cauldron with boiling oil on one side and a crane on another. Think of how they can be used during a fight and you will greatly improve the encounter.

There is also another variant of the map that takes you to a river. The structure is the same, but the environment changes to a lower elevation.
