CHOICE: Chuckle. "I'd say I don't bite, but that seems odd to say to a vampire."

The distance makes an awkward tension ripple through me, and I push my crackling hands into my pockets and press a smile on my lips.

"I'd say I don't bite, but that seems like a weird thing to say to a vampire," I quip adding a breath of a laugh.

IF BFF IS ADAM/AVA

Adam/Ava lifts a brow at me. "Excuse me?"

"It's weird because you're a vampire," I explain, but he/she continues to throw me a blank stare. "Vampires bite. Get it?"

"…Yes. I understood the concept of the joke."

IF SARCASM HIGH

"The 'concept'?" I purse my lips. "Uh, excuse you, but I'm hilarious."

"And oh-so modest too," he/she replies, but I just about catch the tiniest smile on his/her lips.

IF SARCASM OR CHARMING LOW

"The concept?" I roll my lips together. "I suppose comedy isn't one of my better traits."

"I wouldn't worry. You have many others," he/she replies, offering an amused smile.

"Well, perhaps the joke was hilarious, but you just don't have a cultured sense of humour," I suggest teasingly.

He/She huffs a laugh. "Oh yes. That must be what it is."

I love these kinds of interactions between the MC and their BFF at this point in their friendships! You can really get a sense of how far they've come from the beginning, and how easy they are becoming around each other. 

Couldn't resist sharing this fun and easy moment where the MC and BBF Adam/Ava are forced to walk at a distance, and the MC is trying to lighten the mood! :D
