He snorts, folding his arms as he leans against the wall. "The ones where I get to stay home and be in charge of the monitoring equipment."

"Wait a second!" Felix cuts in, his eyes wide and glimmering as he holds up his hands. "Did you just say home? Like actual you-love-it-and-want-to-live-with-us forever-home?"

Mason's nostrils wrinkle. "That's not what I said."

"No, but I can read your subtext like an open book," Felix replies with a slowly spreading grin.

Mason's jaw tenses as he glares at the younger vampire. "And what does my subtext say now?"

Felix rolls his lips together before clearing his throat. "Something that needs some serious censoring."
