Devlog #21 - Drink like a fish? Don't mind if I do! (Patreon)

Hey everybody, it's me, your friend, buddy…lover? Leo G! And boy do we have some new stuff to go over with the next update.
For starters, a status! Code is dev complete (i.e. I did everything, and it works at first glance, but needs proper QA), 5 new mini CGs are fully integrated, all 35 bar conversations have been edited and implemented, and the 17 new abilities are programmed in. Those new abilities mean new dialogs as well!
So that's 10 new dialog events, 5 each, for five chicks, which means 250 new dialog nodes in game! And TT didn't even add his yet! Jesus Christ that's already 15k words between that and the bar convos! I wrote a book! And you'll get to read that book soon. But first, we need a bar to actually do bar stuff in and uh-
Looks pretty shit. This was an ancient model from before the game even released that I made while still learning Blender. It's a nightmare topology wise, and has a lot of awkward size issues. It just doesn't look like a well made bar by any means.
Also one of the other issues was visual interest. This game isn't full of hyper realistic human models with unique idle animations in the background. One of my design choices is to make it so every screen has something moving to let you know the game isn't frozen (ignore the start menu) and with the old bar concept, there wasn't really a way to do that.
So I asked TT to make a new one!
And God Damn is it better. Not only does it fit the vibe of the game better now the we made more of it since the initial concept, but now there's an AQUARIUM. And with an AQUARIUM….COMES FISH.
Here's my go at making fish for Joker's Trip. Obviously based on suits, I was thinking the coral and etc can be based off face cards and other casino related things. So my goal was to make a bunch of different fish, and have TT choose which of each suit he would clean up and put in the game but he ended up liking them so much he did them all :)
WITH A CLOWN FISH. Hm! He seems familiar.
What's nice about an aquarium is that it means something has to be moving slowly in the background at all times, which means visual interest, which means a pretty game. I'm Literally in the middle of modeling them to throw em into Unity as we speak.
Oh yeah and here's the new bar, fully modeled and ready to be textured (Cool tip I learned, have a person in your model for reference to proportions). So once that's done (and I model the bottles for the bar oopsie) we'll be all that closer to releasing the bar update…which means boys in the future…..Thank you for staying patient with us! Love you bye bye
